ST. CATHARINES, ON – Professor David Schimmelpenninck’s return to teaching at Brock University has prompted a clear response by student activists.
Schimmelpenninck was found, through an internal investigation by Brock University, to have sexually assaulted a student in 2014. Previously, another student had complained to Brock University about sexual violence by Schimmelpenninck, but Brock University did not pursue a formal investigation process. These incidents became public in 2016.
For the safety of all students, faculty and staff, it is crucial that Schimmelpenninck immediately resign from Brock University. We will not let individuals who have a history of committing sexual violence get away with their actions. Help us remove this threat from campus by using your voice and joining the alliance to make Brock University a safer place to teach and learn.

I am ashamed at Brock university for allowing him back into classrooms, I do not feel comfortable walking the hallways in case I run into him and I know I am not alone in this
He needs the boot. Brock displays it's self as futile progressives when they invite Tarana Burke to speak of her movement & this man to teach. Two words. Cognitive dissonance.
Do the right thing, your students and their peers have spoken. Your job as an educator is to create an environment where students want to learn, where they take away knowledge from the classroom, not fear of being harmed. You can’t teach at Brock now without your students focusing only on this, it impacts their education.
Brock University is just as disgusting as this man. Brock is showing that they support sexual assault by having David Schimmelpennick return to teaching. I no longer feel proud to call myself a Brock Alumni. Protect your students, not a sexual predator.
If this professor was found to be in violation of the sexual harassment policy, he should be terminated. We are attempting to build a society in which people can contribute their best; how can students trust Brock when they let a person who has committed, certifiably and by his own admission, sexual assault?

And maybe look into the criminal act he has admitted vs. the administrative process that let him back in the classroom in the first place. He locked her in his office and assaulted her. It seem like (based on the public information) that this was not mere “harassment” as it has been portrayed.
