Really disappointed in this turn of events. I came to Banner for the flexibility and now it feels like that is gone.

I’m not bothered by the weekend shifts as most but the point of mandating schedules sucks. We should expect that some of the days that we would rather not work be mandated or switched due to needs. That’s part of the gig. That should only happen on rare occasions as long as the scheduler has things mapped out. Sometimes it’s the needs of the department that take over and we should ALL be ok with it and if the need of your day off is more important than work on trading the shift with someone. This weekend mandates is not right particularly since the weekend deferential is starting and has not even been given a chance to work. I’m sure weekends will be picked up more due to people wanting the extra money. Daycare is the biggest problem I’m hearing. Single moms need set schedules. Sell it as you may it does not seem as set as we are being told. This will cause a lot of good nurses to leave banner. Some have already jumped ship and plenty are still talking about it. We shall see.

As a nursing student and future RN this news that nurses aren’t not being treated fairly with giving them a choice of when they can work is concerning and disheartening. Banner was always the top of my list to apply for a RN position but knowing that nurses are not having the right to choose their own schedule has me second guessing choosing Banner as a place of employment. Nurses should be in the top priority at all hospitals they work so hard and love their jobs.

I recently transitioned to BSS for true schedule freedom and while it’s not the same work wise, I could not go back as a full or part employee with Banner due to this very reason. So sadly when I’m ready to make that move Banner will no longer be an option. I agree with the above comment, this change is not Magnet, and a great work environment takes the voice of its employees to make changes.

I believe strongly that as a Magnet facility, we should have an ACTUAL voice and not a pretend one. Sophia is important but so are the Nurses and Nursing assistants that are the heartbeat of this organization. We should be given the same if not better courtesy. 100% supportive
