I Fully agree with htis petition

I work with Special Ed teachers. They told me that they stayed to do the paperwork and prepare materials for the next classes until 5 or 6pm (2-3 hours after their working time). They have life! They need to be home with their spouse and family! Good teachers work hard to make sure the students get their education. Please think of teachers' needs and students' needs.

Just curious...Why is it that the people who don't spend time in our classrooms are the ones who make these decisions that have such a negative impact on what happens in our classrooms? They increase demands on the teachers, and decrease time needed to perform the tasks. Ultimately, it is the STUDENTS who lose out in the end.

I'm sure you're attempting to create efficiencies, etc.. I tell you this, those "efficiencies" come at the cost of quality and pride. Please, this is not a good idea for MN or anyone.

I am a special Ed teacher, I give my kiddos my all! I rarely have prep time. My paperwork is done at home because my kiddos on my caseload need me!

Adequate prep time is paramount to effective instruction, particularly when teachers are asked to coteach with several teachers.

We love our jobs and our students. Make sure that we have the adequate to be our best and therefore serve our students best. They are, after all, our passion.

As a retired teacher, I believe that lesson planning time was the most important part of being a good teacher. Please do not take this away from teachers.

I am a new teacher. After working as an SEA in this district, I have seen first hand the stress teachers have over time demands and the need to do right for their children. I am trying very hard to NOT work for MPS because of the total disregard the administration has for not just teachers but the children and families. They can't possibly have the best interests of the children or their families when they expect teachers to work in the conditions they have created.

The workshop week really needs to be the set up your classroom and prepare your curriculum week.

I need more time to get ready for class. The seven period day takes from that time.

It is very important to me that when my students arrive each day, I am well prepared to teach each and every lesson.

Teachers need to be trusted to do their job without the outside pressures, exasperating amounts of paperwork/reporting and constant review of standardized (meaningless) data.

Let teachers teach.

Teachers need to get ready for the students. A teacher needs more than a day to prepare the room and the lessons! That first week with students is a critical time for setting the tone for the year.

I concur wholeheartedly! We need adequate time to help close the achievement gap.

I want more time during Workshop Week to plan and prepare for my students!

I sign this as a teacher at two Mpls schools and a parent of two students at two other Mpls schools, and one is on the Autism Spectrum. I have seen an talked to staff at all four schools.

heavy workload, teachers' job is too demanded. have to give up weekend.
