School-Based MHCs request $200 of Continuing Education/Licensure Fees per year
MHCs in the SBMH Program respectfully request that County Management grant their request for dedicated funding for staff who are on the front lines of providing needed mental health services for youth and families.
- SBMH MHCs bring in money every day, through billing Medicaid, but yet we are given no benefit for bringing in this money
- SBMH MHCs are constantly requesting funding for trainings, but they are rarely approved
- There is not a culture of continuing one's exploration of new clinical skills and ideas
- There is no incentive for MHCs to be licensed, and no incentive for non-licensed MHCs to pursue licensure

I have worked in this program since 1999. I can tell you we have lost good people, dedicated clinicians - due to this lack of support for continued education/trainings/fees. They go to other programs and agencies for this support. Thank you for considering this modest proposal.
Please consider providing more education for School Based Clinicians. More education I believe will improve our skills; as a result, it will benefit our students. Thank you.

We need to have equity with our health provider counterparts. Nurse Practitioners (Masters Level) get $2000/year for continuing eduction, including travel and lodging. Our request for $200 is a drop in the bucket.
