I live in Oceanside and park on the street in front of my house because none of us have driveways. I park daily driver transit van in front of my house and now they have a new law that my vehicle is oversized and I get tickets once a month. The city says I have to register my vehicle with a business that it tied to my residence and say the vehicle is for the business to stop getting tickets.

Workmans vehicles, church vans, and regular van owners who enjoy taking their sprinter/dodge/stand-up-van to the beach for day trips shouldn't be penalized because Santa Barbara wants to clean out homeless people from its city streets.

As a late model Sprinter van owner, I would appreciate flexibility to park my van. The RV parks in Santa Barbara are terrible, located in inconvenient locations, and expensive.

My parents lived in Noleta, where the ordinance does not apply, but I am miffed that a van that is licensed by the state of California as an automobile is not allowed to park on streets my taxes support. The "safety" pretext is just that. This is an attempt to force out vehicle dwellers, and we are acceptable collateral damage.

I totally get the point of this law, to keep the really big vehicles off the streets, but this effects so much more. I run a business with oversized vans, my parents and grandparents now can’t really come up to SB with their bikes on the back of their sprinters and enjoy santa barbara. I personally have a 19” sprinter that i use for weekend trips, but its also my only car and i do need it at times in town (i normally bike, but sometimes you need a car).

As a longtime Santa Barbara resident who mostly parks on the street using a resident permit, I’m extremely disappointed to see the city regulating my vehicle options in the name of “safety.” Where are the accident reports showing that tall vehicles have created dangerous outcomes? What about banning silent electric cars that give no warning to bicyclists, pedestrians, and other motorists? This is a very poorly considered ordinance indeed.

this ordinance just harms the small business owners, who are already burdened with tons of rules and regulations, that mostly are approved by people , who never even run a lemonade stand . The anti business stance that the santa barbara city council and the current major has taken will hurt everyone including the budget of the city in short and long run. we need small businesses in this town to create employment and pay taxes. where should the small business owners park their work trucks or delivery trucks? did they designate a parking for them?

This law would affect my sister who has an educational wine tours business. Many of her customers are visitors of Santa Barbara. This is also unfair to people that no longer have apartments and just need some shelter to stay off the street. Have a bloody heart.

As the hard working owner of a moving company this could possibly have a devastating effect on not just my livelihood but the city in general. Everyone move at some point or another. Where are we supposed to park while working?
