The current health care reform proposals under consideration in the United States Senate and House of Representatives are bills Mainers simply cannot afford. We, the undersigned citizens of Maine, urge you to oppose these current proposals and encourage your fellow legislators to rethink these reforms.
We stand in opposition to these proposals because:
- The proposed changes are too big
The bill is more than 2,000 pages long and creates new taxes and over
100 new government departments!

- The proposals are too expensive
With a $2.5 trillion price tag, $370 billion in new taxes, costly health care regulations, and a massive Medicaid expansion, we simply cannot afford this proposal.
- The proposals pose too great a risk to seniors
The latest proposal would cut nearly $500 billion from Medicare putting all of our seniors at risk.
For these reasons, and more, we urge you, Senator Snowe and Senator Collins, to just say NO to this government takeover of our health care.
