On May 25th, 2016, Captain America: Steve Rogers #1 was released, and in it, Steven Grant Rogers (Captain America), was revealed as being a "undercover HYDRA agent all along". People are deeply angry, that Cap, an iconic American symbol who was created by two Jewish men, has had 75 years worth of character development and canon completely deteriorated for the shock value of Cap being a Nazi. Steve's character has died, lost loved ones, and gone to the ends of the earth to destroy HYDRA, and fans are livid because this choice made by Nick Spencer has completely ruined a character whom people have loved and looked up to for 75 years. If you want your voice to be heard, and you want Marvel and Nick Spencer to feel the public outcry of their disgusting and shameful decision, please sign and share this petition.

The momentum behind this effort clearly demonstrates how much the legacy of Steve Rogers means to his readers. This substantial response confirms that the current direction of the character is fundamentally at odds with the values he has represented for decades.

As a Jew I am disturbed and offended to my very core that Marvel would produce this comic, making one of the greatest heroes into a (metaphorical) Nazi. Marvel was created by Jews, CAPTAIN AMERICA was created by Jews and this shows nothing but disrespect not only for the creators of Marvel but for both every single reader of Marvel comics and for all Jews, whether or not they were impacted by the Holocaust.
This is disgusting. Captain America was created to fight Nazism and Anti-Semitism. Captain America symbolizes hope, freedom, and honesty. They took away the essence of Captain America. It's horrifying that this was printed.
Marketing on the foundation of shock value and you are now losing customers and fans.
As the original creators of Cap were two Jewish men looking to create a character who depicted a sort of acceptance, this is a joke and a mockery of the original creators' ideas and intentions.
I will not be purchasing this or any other Marvel media depicting Cap as a nazi. Shame on Marvel and everyone involved in this project,
It makes no sense after all Steve has done to help people to have such a crap plot twist.

Unless Cap's doing it to infiltrate and destroy a Hydra cell, (and even then this doesn't fit his character as a way to do it) there is NO WAY that Cap would be a Hydra agent. It's offensive, wrong, and goes against his character.
