Say No to Wetherspoons in St Martins Walk

I oppose allowing Wetherspoons to open a location in Dorking.

This would be a disaster for the character of the town.

Disgraceful idea for Dorking.

Dorking is about the local business something everyone seems to be forgetting

Weatherspoon would be perfectly sited, only 25m to secluded underground car parks for dealers and users. Do we have enough police to patrol?

I am deeply opposed to the positioning of the proposed Whetherspoons in St Martins Walk . It would be far better at the Dorking Halls end of town.

I feel very strongly that if this application is allowed through our lovely market town will never recover. Not only will 5 units have to close, but all the pubs and cafes and restaurants who are already struggling to survive will be at risk. Wetherspoons have the benefit of economies of scale that the smaller outlets just can't compete with. They buy beer on it's last knockings in bulk and sell at a price no other pub can keep up with. It will sound the death knoll of the town. I will lose all faith in Mole Valley planning if this one is allowed through. There are already so many empty shops in the town - do you want more???

No to Wetherspoons in St Martins Walk, not suitable for Dorking.

I object to Wetherspoon's coming to Dorking. Having seen the results of a Wetherspoon in other towns, the cheaper alcohol, the loitering, and taking clientele from other businesses, as well as taking their premises, I believe Dorking is better off without Wetherspoon.

We don’t need any more pubs in Dorking. It is unfair and morally wrong to evict 5 established businesses from trading at their current site to make way for yet another pub.

I don't mind a WS in Dorking but I'm not happy with existing businesses/charities having to make way for it

The only footfall this will increase will be to and from Wetherspoons. It is surplus to requirements to all except those wanting cheap beer and would be a complete betrayal to the Sports Stadium and established businesses already serving Dorking and neighbouring areas.

Dorking doesn't need Wetherspoons. If this application is allowed it will force several shops and a cafe in St Martin's Walk out of business. Dorking already has a good selection of chain restaurants and independent cafes .

I support the opposition to Weatherspoons as an unsuitable position in the town

Completely wrong location, being so close to children’s play park and forcing the loss of several well used local businesses, particularly Burgundy and Black.

Dorking does not need a Wetherspoons, it already has sufficient pubs for its population & it will place further pressure on existing licensed premises. Equally to force existing local business, currently trading in St Martins Walk, to re-locate and potentially close is harsh and unfair

My objections to the planning application are the affects the chain pub will have on local businesses and residents .
