What a disaster for Dorking to shut 5 shops for another eating place of Weatherspoons. Dorking is a Heritage small Town for its natural beauty & small scale of community shops & not great giant chains like Weatherspoons! Not worth the upset that will cause the local community.

Totally agree with the points raised. We are a small town in the best part of Surrey. We need to keep the standard up here. Have shared as well

I do not wish to see small, independent businesses pushed out of business for a large pub/restaurant chain. St Martin's walk is a lovely, family friendly area of Dorking and it would be a shame if It became a no go area because of the pub and the clientele Wetherspoons tend to attract....especially with it being so close to the new football ground too, there is the potential for drinking & drunken behaviour/trouble to escalate on match days. Does Dorking really need another pub/restaurant in the town centre? Surely there are other ways to regenerate the town

Some towns need to be kept unique and foster smaller business rather than drive them out of business, weatherspoons gives nothing back to communities, it’s a powerful corporate business that enrich its boards and shareholders, people looking for cheapest meals can’t conplain about pubs, they should save the money they have and buy food and cheap beer from supermarkets. Dorking would t be Dorking without its unique pubs and shops

We do not need a Wetherspoons in St Martin's Walk. We do not need to ruin the businesses that have spent years building their reputations and clientele. Most especially Burgundy & Black.

This is too big and there are plenty of pubs closing and being sold in Dorking that could become weatherspoons. Also not ideal next to the library where children frequent.

BASED ON THEIR OTHER LOCATIONS THEIR CLIENTELE BRING OTHER SOCIAL PROBLEMS WITH THEM. IN ST.MARTINS WALK THE OTHER SHOPS SHOULD DOUBLE THEIR GLASS INSURANCE FOR A START.

The last thing Dorking needs is a venue to attract the binge drinkers. The town already has a problem with anti social behaviour at pub closing time and opening a Weatherspoons will only make the problem worse, ask the residents of Epsom !

This is simply not needed in Dorking. Small business struggles enough as it is. We have a wealth of excellent pubs and restaurants to suit all budgets. This will not just impact on those in St Martin's Walk but throughout the town.

This is the wrong location for this pub and will cause havoc in the town for those of us who live here. It is far too big, will be making other ships move out and is too close to the football club, which in itself will cause huge amounts of traffic and drinking on match days.

Why not use the empty store location where the factory shop used to be, instead of pushing existing businesses out? What really annoyed me is the pushing out of local small business which have a thriving trade in their current location (and that we enjoy patronising). If there must be a weatherspoons then find an empty premises.
