This is a terrible idea, not what Dorking needs at all. There must be other viable and more suitable options to keep Dorking as lovely as it is and encourage and support independent retailers.

I frequent the current businesses there (pottery shop, cafe, beatitudes and Millets) with my kids. Dorking does NOT need another pub and the Managers of St Martin’s Walk are naive to think this will not bring a multitude of problems to the town. We are all saying the same thing about the current state of the shops in Dorking, but no one seems to be listening.

Put weatherspoons in a different location. Not st Martins walk. Leave that to retail and don’t put Wetherspoons near the kids play area !

A victory for our town when the malt house shut down and the space became available for a kids community centre. I personally suffered from the behaviour of clientele from this v similar establishment as a resident in the near vicinity and would be aghast if a larger scale version were to blight one of the nicer remnant areas of the town.

I am concerned about the dominance of one corporate business over other small buinesses. I also feel the pub would be unsightly and attract potential problems, negatively changing the current atmosphere.

There are existing successful businesses in this space.
There are many pubs and restaurants already in dorking.
Wetherspoons does not fit the character of our town

Beatitudes is a local charity in a league of its own in Dorking providing not just children's clothes and accessories but emotional and social support to parents of the town and beyond. Should Weatherspoons take over its space there would be nowhere for it to go. This must not happen! We can't lose a gem of a charity and store that provides such a cornerstone to the community in exchange for a Weatherspoons! We don't want more restaurants either.

Say no to chains and yes to independent stores. Dorking does not need another pub an less access to alcohol might mean less of a drinking culture in our society
