Creating a huge pub complex that sells alcohol at cheap prices is not right for that area if Dorking. We have just been given a wonderful new playground , soft play and cafe at the new sports ground in Meadowbank which is brilliant for families. The Weatherspoons will turn that critical walkway down to the park into a place you don't want to walk through because of drinking and smoking outside all day. These businesses that are to be turned out are much loved by the community and are perfect for young families who are the life blood of Dorking. To have a pub next to a Library, seems a bad fit. Dorking has always supported local business which is very much the centre of it's charm as a town in the Surrey Hills.

Putting a Wetherspoons in such an enclosed area is just asking for trouble. We already have enough eating and drinking establishments in Dorking. Why remove 5 existing businesses when there are already empty pub premises in the town.

This would bring people in from all different areas and cause increased drunken violence in dorking. This is not what we want as a town or for residents who want to enjoy an evening out.

This does not seem a suitable venue for a pub, in a shopping centre next to a library, and at the expense of the shops already there which are well used. People smoking and drinking outside the pub during the day will negatively impact on people walking through the shopping Centre from the car park, and is not a positive environment or healthy message for the many children who use the Centre. There is an empty pub in the high street which would be more suitable.

Dorking has plenty of nice pubs. It doesn't need a Wetherspoons which attracts all sorts and I feel it would destroy the atmosphere in the town centre.

This is an unsuitable location for a public house. St Martins Walk is a shopping area, it is not appropriate to force the closure of trading businesses for this.

Why oh why do they want to put Weatherspoons there? There are numerous empty businesses at the other end of town. Surely it woukd be better positioned there. It may even bring more trade to that of town.
