Have lived in Dorking for 15 years and this is the worst idea I have ever heard.

I like Wetherspoons, but this is not a suitable location. Have it on the High Street like all other pubs rather out of sight

The plan does not benefit Dorking by forcing 5 established local businesses out of the shopping area. Additionally the proposed location does not make sense either, being next to a library and a key route to the play ground from the town. There are several vacant pubs in Dorking which would be much more suitable and of a scale in keeping with the area. Dorking benefits from having a variety of businesses, hence the scale of the proposed venue is an important point.

There are plenty of pubs in the area the only time this would be full is after football matches and cycling race. You would kill off all our other local pubs and this is not what was intended when St Martins Walk was built.

When there are empty existing pubs on the high street, must we really lose the library and independent and successful shops, a cafe and millets? I thought we strived to keep independence in dorking? I have no objection to a weatherspoons in the town, just not at such enormous cost.

Too many pubs already in Dorking. Prefer the shops that are there already

Burgundy & Black and Beattitudes are more than just businesses they serve and promote the local community, they are a unique feature of Dorking adding value to the whole high street much more than a Weatherspoons.

A Weatherspoons is not wanted or needed in Dorking! It would spoil the town and mean the loss of 5 other businesses.

Please don’t change the nature of this area of Dorking for the sake of big business rents. Too much lost already.

No, no, no, for many, obvious reasons.

This is absolutely the wrong thing for Dorking. It would encourage excessive, cheap drinking amongst the youth and cause social disorder which we do not have the on-site police force to cope with. Dorking has enough pubs. The existing pubs add value to the town this would be an eyesore. This is not in the interests of Dorking residents. So close to St Martin's Church, Church Sreet and sheltered housing which are in the main very quiet areas. Dorking needs real shops, a fishmonger and a baker. Do not kick out already established local businesses that have contributed to this town for years. Burgundy & Black being a prime example..The council need to think again on this one!

There are too many delinquents roaming around Dorking at night as it is, and a Wetherspoon will only serve to cheapen the town further.
