Say No to Wetherspoons in St Martins Walk

This proposed development would fundamentally change the feel of that little corner off the Dorking High Street. Please don't let this happen!! I,along with many other older people am a regular visitor to all those little places that would disappear, and what a loss they would be to the people of Dorking. I say NO to Weatherspoons!!!

Totally unecessary in Dorking and would deprive the town of important current businesses

Dorking does not need another eating I drinking establishment especially one the proposed size. would be much better to get some high street clothing shops in for the younger demographic. this would also increase trade for the existing local eateries and pubs.

The location proposed is totally inappropriate for such establishment. There are plenty of empty pubs in Dorking should be have to have a Wetherspoons pub in our town.

I am not against Witherspoon's having a presence in Dorking but this proposal is grotesque for a town of this size. There is a need for such a provision since so many restaurants/cafes in Dorking do not exactly provide for 'ordinary' meals!! There is an element of bullying tactics in the way this proposal has been launched and it is grossly unfair to shove established businesses out in this way. I also suspect the Council doesn't particularly care about the smaller businesses since it is only interested how much money it can get out of the project. Another factor to me is the 'other places have them why not 'Dorking?' which is the same as why haven't we got a MacDonalds etc etc.....do we not have the right to be different rather than follow the herd in the blancmange of mediocrity created my globalisation etc???

We lead to lots of trouble spilling out on the high street putting more strain on overstretched police resources. If weather spoons want to open then invest in an already existing pub that is struggling locally.

this is a terrible idea. will ruin the place and make the residents more jittery with drunks and idiots hanging around.

Beatitudes provides an amazing and unique and much-needed community service.

Very unsuitable position

No! Dorking is a besytiful quirky little town. It has enough public houses with character and charm. Dorking does not need a cheap pub which sadly invites the wrong crowd. As for the businesses ... I visit these often. It threatens jobs and the town.

Dorking does not need another pub and this size and type of development would be completely out of keeping with the town.

We don't need another pub / restaurant in dorking when some pubs and restaurants are closing....

No thank you-why destroy a community resource in Beatitudes for another pub-when we have 2 empty already!

Dorking does not need yet another pub. Many have already closed and this large chain would unfairly compete with existing businesses

I cannot believe that there is a 'need' for another eating and drinking establishment in Dorking. Those already in place are struggling, small businesses need support not bullying out if the market + there is a popular well used facility in the library that will certainly feel the impact from people outside the 'pub' smoking and drinking; this will be exacerbated come the evening with loud noise, cars, music and the likelyhood of arguments and/or fighting. It will not add anything to the area apart from the pockets of the council in rates and licencing fees.

I do not want another pub in Dorking and Beatitude and Burgundy and Black are part of our local community. They put back much more than they take out. save our Beatitude Store!j

I live in St Martins Walk , the Cote Brasserie is bad enough with their customers loud lengthy conversations and good byes underneath our windows all summer long ! God only know what kinds of behaviour we may be exposed to from dozens of all day drinkers after closing time if Wetherspoons is to opens in such a built up area !?!

Beattitudes & Burgundy and Black are two of my main reasons to visit Dorking centre! I have two young children and these are two of few places I've found that are child friendly! Please NO WETHERSPOONS!!

Please find something to go in it’s place that actually enhances the town! We’ve only just moved here and love Dorking because it doesn’t have the kind of atmosphere a Wetherspoons would create.
