Why can't they use one of the old pubs on the high street that have been closed for a while?? These little quirky shops are what make dorking. Beautitudes are amazing and for what they are its a prefect location for us mums who like to be discreet.

Wetherspoons has an appalling reputation. They should all be closed down not expanded. Awful food and cheap drinks encouraging drunkenness. Will change the whole feel of this lovely town.

This is a terrible location for a Wetherspoons pub and there is absolutely no excuse for forcing established local businesses to close to allow for this, especially when there are currently two recently closed pubs on the high street. Please, please reconsider.

Agree with this comments entirely. Dorking needs to go forwards and not backwards. At the moment, it’s an undesirable location for any shop owner and house buyer simply due to the lack of progression in the town centre. Wetherspoons will attract the wrong crowd in a nice, remote part of the town centre.

Totally wrong to displace the existing business, one bring a valuable children's charity doing important work for family in and around Dorking, a pub there will only bring in the wrong crowd and make it uncomfortable and unsafe for families with young children.

This could sound the death knell for some of our lovely old pubs. To force the other businesses in St. Martin's Walk is appalling. Burgundy and Black is a great community asset, hosting meetings, working with the youth group, as a venue for mums to meet.
There is also the noise problem for nearby residents as people stand outside drinking.
As someone who walks through the area in front of the proposed site to get into town I really object to the idea of having to walk through the crowds drinking and smoking outside.
This is an appalling idea.

This is an unwelcome change to the centre of Dorking town centre. Loss of existing thriving business and charities. Too close to the newly re-developed childrens playground.

This application is unwelcome and unwanted. The character, charm and friendliness of our market town is maintained by the variety of small independents who care about the uniqueness of their business offering. Large, lack lustre chains are unwanted and this application should be refused.
