The focus should be on attracting both independent and desired lifestyle brands to serve the community and towns requirements, not on cheap achohol and food. Business rates are clearly too high and the councils strategy to develop the town centre is outdated and inaccurate.

I do not think Dorking needs another pub. At least one pub in the town is empty at the moment. Also according to the police most of the crime in the town centre is caused by anti social behaviour. I do not think adding another licensed premises which will be open all day, has a reputation for selling cheap alcohol and can house up to 230 people will bring anything to the town but trouble. What is need is a new large store, which could easily be housed on this site.

Dorking is failing already with its lack of proper shops. Putting a cut price questionable pub in the town will be the final nail in its coffin.

Do we really need another Eatery in Dorking? It is unfair to the businesses already occupying these premises. Will probably cause problems as stated in the petition. It would be good to see new businesses open in Dorking that were not Cafés, Restaurant's or Bars. We don't need anymore.

It is not needed, and surly we need to keep Dorking a country town, if the council is not careful it will end up just like Leatherhead,where we have lost all our old shops.

We don’t need a large Witherspoon’s pub in Dorking, we have enough pubs. The lovely thing about Dorking is having smaller, individual pubs with each one offering something different depending on your taste. Witherspoon’s are for large town areas, Dorking is still very much a village.

I don't think that this is the right place for a pub. SMW maybe a small shopping center but nice. Putting a pub there will spoil it the noise the mess potential damage to property. This will take the livelihood away from the shops that will be turned into this pub. The kind of clientele these kinds of pubs attract do we really want that there or even in our lovely town. There are other properties that are vacant and have been for a while that they could use if needed. Do we really need another pub in our town NO and defentley not there.

Danger of drunken behaviour to spill into meadowbank and fab new children's play area. Hard to police, LET THEM USE THE CLOSED SURREY YEOMAN SITE IF THEY WANT TO COME TO DORKING

I am completely opposed to Wetherspoons opening in Dorking. This pub would be completely out of character with the town.

Terrible idea. I can't believe this is even a topic for discussion. Are you trying g to ruin Dorking? Dorking prides itself on independent businesses which adds to the charm and family friendly feel of the place. Putting a Spoons there will bring in a different clientele and undoubtedly more anti social behaviour from cheap all day drinking. Let's leave it as it is please.
