I wish to object to the plan to open a huge pub in St Martins walk and the resulting loss of the current small businesses on that site.

What are they thinking of. Totally the wrong place to put a pub. Who is it for the local residents or visitors to the football grounds. Also what about the people in the flats who live in St Martin's walk with all the extra noise from people exiting the pub. It is not the right location for a pub let alone another restarurant of which Dorking has loads.

I strongly object to the proposed Wetherspoons development in Dorking. It is entirely unsuitable for Dorking and will affect the small business which will be displaced.

Wetherspoon pubs have a bad reputation & it would completely alter the whole area [for the worst]. Access to the Car Park will become much more unpleasant for shoppers.

It would be much better if they took over an empty unit and a smaller one.

There are pubs and some restaurants in Dorking struggling to survive, why would we want to add to their problems by opening a Wetherspoons and closing down 5 retail outlets? We should be supporting those that we have.

Many Dorking pubs are already struggling so why allow a huge business like Wetherspoons destroy the characterful and successful businesses that already operate here? They should be maintained and encouraged. Yet again, Mammon is threatening to rip away another aspect of our beautiful town; in my view this is, in principle, absolutely abhorrent and from a business point of view completely nonsensical. Please don't give in to big business bullying.

St Martin's Place is inappropriate for a Wetherspoons. what's wrong with the old Surrey Yeoman site?

I cannot believe that this is happening to Dorking, it will make the parking situation worse and create a lot of noise and nuisance in the area.

Weatherspoons on the scale planned will change the family friendly town that is Dorking. It will change the atmosphere and kill off the other local pubs in the town. A double loss.

Snobbery is at the heart of the Petition and most of the comments, Few of the so-called justifications stand up to scrutiny.

Weatherspoons does not fit the culture of Dorking. The location will encourage anti-social behaviour spilling out to the adjacent park
