The Wetherspoons brand is not in keeping with the character of this small town, but if it really has to go through, then why not consider a ready-made space in the vacant Surrey Yeoman lot?

Totally inappropriate location for an enterprise of this size. - what will be virtually all day drinking should not be encouraged in this town. Whilst we want to encourage the footfall in Dorking, the new football stadium will be a magnet for Wetherspoons and will not result in the family atmosphere we should be promoting . As a long-standing resident and working in Dorking I totally object to this application.

I am completely against this. It would be such a shame for small local businesses to have to close in what is currently a family friendly shopping precinct. If Wetherspoons is looking for a site, there is a vacant pub in the high street that would be much more appropriate

Completely out of scale and totally inappropriate development to have a pub of this size on this site - in the centre of a market town - in an area of outstanding natural beauty.

Another "nail in the coffin" for Dorking. We have enough eating places and pubs are shutting down. Are people going to pay the higher parking charges when they come in and also where are Wetherspoons getting their staff from as most people find it too expensive to buy or rent in this area!

It is quite obvious why Weatherpoons want to open in St Martin's Walk and that is it's proximity to the new football ground that is soon to open at Meadowbank. Just imagine - all day drinking (and outside in the summer) in St Martin's Walk. Doesn't bear thinking about. Please Mole Valley give this the thumbs down. There are other venues Weatherspoon could move to but they would not be so lucrative to this rapidly expanding chain.

What Dorking needs is childrens and womens clothes and shoe shops - not another pub! Next,Gap,Phase Eight - anything decent to stop us driving to other towns to shop for family clothes.

Wetherspoons would replace shops and cafes that a broad section of the community use. If, and it’s a big if, Dorking does need another pub then why not use the premises where the Yeoman used to be. A sticky and horrible pub that had to close!

This is dragging Dorking down further. Wagamama opens in Reigate, we get Wetherspoons! Don't understand what the problem is but Dorking has one.

A shame to close good local businesses for something which will threaten the viability of the lovely pubs we still have in Dorking. If the planners allow this I will lose all faith in the system.

I feel that Dorking has a lot more to offer than a Wetherspoons .. Because the drink is cheaper you get a lot of people that have a drink problem going there ... Dorking needs it heart back it was lovely when I was growing up there but I feel it has nothing to offer people anymore .
