Again, more short-sightedness on the part of city government. It makes no sense to build this shelter overlooking Riley Plaza when they have plenty of land to use at Forest River Park. Bulldoze Pioneer Village and you'll have a great new site for Lifebridge's expansion.

This petition and attitude is so deeply harmful. It misrepresents everything, and is yet more of the "I don't know where you can sleep but you can't sleep here" baloney every city is pulling now.
Fix the real problem. More resources, more housing, put my tax dollars to work if you have to. Pass the 40R overlay, increase the density of Salem, and then we can work on getting surrounding cities to do their part too instead of spitting on our unhoused neighbors.

Salem should not be the only city on the North Shore to really make an effort to deal with homelessness. Other communities need to play a part as well.

Removing respectful employed, families who've labored two - three jobs to raise, educate, honorable, lawful, offspring, families our city can proudly allude to.
With the adoption of 40R Salem's current mayor Pangallo a political disciple of, to me, a mayor of questionable amalgamation other than the citizens who elected her, intends to replace the aforesaid with unemployed, mendicant, questionable education, dubious rap sheet, addiction to alcohol and or illegal drug usage.
This advocacy must be brought to an end, as well as the reinstatement of the mayor and all those of the city council who champion this scandalous proposition.

I’m sick and tired of the city not listening to the residents. I live right behind the shelter and have dealing with this for years. My kids can not go to high street park alone to play because of the sex offenders who are registered and are right next to a park as well as the needles that are found in the mulch at high street park. Now the city want to increase the homeless population even more. Life bridge can’t even help the people with services that they already have. They kick them out of the shelter and they hangout at Riely plaza and harass tourist and residents begging for money. Enough is enough!

Please do not do this. Although it may seem beneficial at first, it is not the answer to solving the issue.

Until every community in the Northshore has a homeless shelter, I do not feel that Salem she be the regional place. Homelessness is a serious problem but we should pressure other communities to step up and do their share. By addressing the problem for the region, we are allowing other communities to not do their part.

Lifebridge has not done a good job with the clients they currently have - so they do not deserve to increase the number of clients. The 40R is bad for the neighbors, downtown, and tourism.

Other towns need to take care of their own and share the load. This will ruin our downtown and ruin our retail, tourism and restaurant businesses as it did in Lynn many years ago. We have worked too hard to get Salem to prosper.

Voting yes for this would reflect badly on the city of Salem. Home values and Tourism would both be affected
I’m against warehousing the Homeless in Salem
Don't let 40R destroy Salem.
NO!!!!
