SAY NO TO WAREHOUSING THE HOMELESS IN SALEM!

This project is bad for the neighborhood. It is bad for Salem. The greedy developers with high salaries are the beneficiaries. Politicians need to listen to the residents and taxpayers.

I oppose 40 R.

I signed this petition because I agree 40R is a bad idea. It doesn't really help people experiencing homelessness, and it doesn't create affordable housing the city really needs to avoid putting more people at risk of losing the roof over their heads. Perhaps a well-meaning approach, but a misdirected one nonetheless.

The more housing you build the more homeless will come here

The housing complex should not be located in a congested parted of the city. This is a family neighborhood with safety issues the safety of our residents. Traffic with delivery trucks, employee parking will be a nightmare. Safety is in issue. The homeless are already sleeping at Post Office Square since the have been moved from Wendy’s.

I support Life Bridge and it's mission, BUT this is putting an outrageous burden on the neighborhoods, city, city services and in the end taxpayers. Without social services this is just a warehouse, that will overflow into our streets, it fixes nothing!

PLEASE Respect the importance of the history and architecture of Salem and don't build additional housing for homeless people in the center of this great city. change the location.

When it comes to mental health care and homeless care & rehousing, small is better. The proposed development feels more like a commercial endeavor for the benefit of investors. Lower the build height to 2, not more than 3 stories. A development that retains the important current elements of the community is better- playground, trees, basketball court.

It is both unfair and unreasonable to make Salem the epicenter of homeless housing. This is a huge statewide and nationwide problem.

40R is a very bad idea for Salem!

I am vehemetly opposed to this project and more broadly 40R Smart Growth Overlay District ordinance.

I am not in favor of building this center in Salem.

While I fully support helping the homeless as they try to regain their independence I do not support Salem as being the Northshore hub for homeless shelters. Our elected officials need to partner with neighboring communities (e.g., Swampscott, Marblehead, Beverly, Hamilton, Wenham, etc.) to also provide shelters for the homeless. If these communities say no - our elected officials need to ask why and figure out an alternative solution.

There has to be a better way to help our un-housed neighbors than warehousing.

I am against expanding the homeless shelter in Salem, MA.

These folks need adequate social services before we expand this facility. There are too many incidents of antisocial and criminal behavior that surround this neighborhood with the current clients of Lifebridge. A bed alone is not enough to help folks with addiction and mental health issues. The area’s homelessness crisis is complex and requires thoughtful planning rather than expanding this shelter without evidence how the facility plans on keeping the community safe and clean.

Unhoused people deserve better conditions, not just what makes the company providing them with services the most money. On the flip side of the coin, the city of Salem should listen to its residents for once…
