Many ' chains' are being built in Chanhassen. Noodles is allowed. Was Lee Ann Chin allowed to hault the construction? Another Starbucks is allowed. Did Caribou object? Smash Burger is allowed, etc. Our city had a great business that wanted to build here- Trader Joe's., there was no real competition with Lake winds. So, now we show discrimination to who we let in? The city council cannot discriminate because a liquor store wants to build here.

I hope the city council is not railroaded into this. Traffic is bad enough in the proposed location and we don't need another place to purchase liquor.

We have plenty of liqure stores in Chanhassen, we don't need another. I think we need a local owned pastry shop or bakery!

Allowing Total Wine to build in that location without even conducting a traffic study is completely irresponsible. We do not need another liquor store! What we DO need is a cap on the number of cookie cutter chain businesses allowed in this city - enough already! There is very little about Chanhassen's business base that is unique and the city compounds it with every chain approval they grant.

Allowing Total Wine (or any other big box/high traffic retailer) in that SMALL area is beyond ridiculous. Adjacent to Summerwood, Foss & St. Hubert where traffic and parking already prove challenging?? Good luck with that. City council is increasingly ignoring the demographics of the very city they purport to represent.

Bringing in a liquor store to an area that has 7 liquor stores already is not necessary. If you want to show support for local business, then support the others that are already in place. Also, placing a liquor store next to Summerwood and saying that you will just use their parking lot is not a good idea. Ambulances need to be able to freely pull in and out in case of emergencies and having people park there hinders that ability. I am sure you wouldn't want to put lives at risk over a liquor store. Overall, this is just a bad idea and you will see in that if you decide to move forward with this decision.

Every time Chanhassen adds a big-box retailer, the uniqueness and character that have been the trademarks of the city are greatly lessened.
If I want to shop in Shakopee, I'll drive there.

Apparently the way the vision is for Chanhassen businesses isn't for Total Wine.
There are too many variances because they find requirements unacceptable to them.

With 8 liquor stores in our small community that is enough. I measured 917 people and hour entering the store today between 2 and 3 PM with constant traffic.
