Say NO to the proposed Casino in Forest Hill, Richmond VA

This is a TERRIBLE idea!!! We are a neighborhood community! We do not have the roads to support this. Environmentally it will be a disaster! NO NO NO, a thousand times NO!!!!

Please NO CASINO. It will DESTROY a cherished and long established community for humans and animals alike. Historic districts, wetlands.. who came up with this terrible plan?

I cannot think of a worse location to place a casino! If Richmond needs a casino then I suggest utilizing the old Coliseum downtown. Locating it there makes it readily accessable via I-95. It also brings much needed action to the downtown area. With the Convention Center and hotels nearby the casino would inevitably draw out-of-town visitors in for business, shows, restaurants, new hotels etc. Please don't place the casino in an area where the land will be desecrated and the ambience of the residential areas will be demolished.

The Forest Hill area behind the Shoppes at Stratford Hills and near Powhite Parkway is not an appropriate location for a casino.

Protect the wetlands and the neighborhood. This is not the site or community for this resort.

Not only are we opposed to a casino in Southside, but anywhere in Richmond.

I am not opposed to the development of a casino. I think that such an addition in the Richmond area would bring new tourism, new spinoff visitation to other Richmond businesses, and significant influx of dollars into the Richmond economy. When the decision is made to determine which proposal is given approval, I believe that LOCATION will be a critical factor to consider. Ease of access will be one of, or more likely THE most important factor in determining the long term success of a casino in the Richmond area. Colonial Downs was built just off I-64 halway between Hampton Roads and Richmond with the idea that it would attract large crowds from both areas. The distance from other attractions resulted in its demise. New Stony Point was built close to Chippenham Parkway with the idea that even though it was in an area with low population density, it would attract people from all over Northside and Southside. That distance turned out to be an inconvenience that too few people would endure, and that mall is evolving into yet another ghost-town. In order to insure the continuing success of a Richmond area casino, there must be not only ease of access from a major Interstate highway, but also close proximity to other entertainment... restaurants, bars, breweries, theater, museums, hiking and biking trails, water attractions, historic locations, sporting facilities, and shopping. I believe this dictates that the location best suited for the development of a Richmond area casino must be close to the North-South arterial Interstate 95, as well as being as close as possible to the city center of Richmond. All that being said, I must also include that the proposed Bally site on land adjacent to Chippenham Parkway and Forrest Hill is the least logical spot for casino development. Absolutely awful location @ Forest Hill and Chippenham. Traffic on Forest Hill is already a nightmare. Existing Infrastructure is inadequate to support a business of this size. Environmental concerns with wetland impacts are significant.

The casino is an undesirable kind of enterprise close to our neighborhood that would create an excessive amount of traffic. It would lower the standards and bring in an undesirable elementof this residential area. Lastly, it would disrupt the natural setting and animal population behind Publix.

I do not believe that bringing a casino to Forest Hill will be beneficial for the area.
