Say 'NO' to the Hazelwalls Development, Uttoxeter

Why must all the beautiful countryside be destroyed for housing? Surely we can keep some greenery around us?!

With so many derelict buildings in this town and country, WHY do we insist in destroying green fields, beautiful views and wildlife?

Keep RURAL UTTOXETER RURAL! There are other locations far better suited for this development!

Excessive amount of houses for what is a nice area of countryside. There must be far more suitable sites

This morning we have the aftermath of Storm Katie and although Uttoxeter was relatively unaffected localised flooding has occurred on the proposed Hazelwalls site. This has also affected gardens on Silver Birch Drive with water running through to Hazel Drive. (A picture will be obtained for future reference if required) The negative impact of an ever increasing traffic density on the roundabout junction of Stafford Road/Hockley Road/Knotty Way/Kingfisher Way is a major concern. Already at peak times operation of the rail level crossing on Hockley Road causes congestion at the roundabout. Increasingly this halts traffic flow in the area as traffic is halted on the roundabout, back up Stafford Road and along Kingfisher Way. This also prevents egress from Foxglove Avenue/Westlands Road. Environmentally the site is home to many animals & birds, including badgers, bats, barn owls and woodpeckers.

Do not allow developments on Greenfield farmland. This land should be taken out of the Local Plan. Politicians should be aware that the actions taken by them will affect their political careers.

Not selfish, when it comes to children playing on a park on Foxglove Ave and Stafford road getting like a motorway, and how do you not know people will not buy houses then rent them out not forgetting most house holds own more than one car.

We have neither the infrastructure or the road systems available to support such a huge growth in our town.

Why spin Why spoil such a beautiful sight

Like stated with one of the above comments what is the problem with new houses Uttoxeter is growing. You should all be happy that instead of buy to let they will be for people who need housing. I'm sure most of these comments come from people who already own there house. Uttoxeter is in a great place right between stoke, derby and burton. It's not surprising that people are drawn to it. The only reason there will be problems with cars is that the transport network isn't amazing imagine a good quality rail network. People have 3 sometimes 4 cars to a household. Because mommy and daddy buy 17yr olds a vw polo so they can travel to derby for work. Use the trains. The more people who use these services the more frequent they will become and more money invested in them. Houses being people. People bring wealth wealth brings business business brings prosperity and a larger voice as a community. Think of the bigger picture. Build bigger roads. Sorry for the rant but I feel people are far too selfish.

Do not turn Uttoxeter into a sprawling new town keep it as it is

Uttoxeter has already suffered more than it's fair share of new housing.

Comments already sent to ESBC prior to inclusion in Local Plan. While I appreciate the land is now earmarked for development in the said plan, the plans now submitted are on a larger scale than those shown to us in the previous consultation. Traffic, access, amenities, flood management do not seem to have been given sufficient attention. The current plans are innacurate as to the boundary with Stanway Close properties.

Staffordshire County Council refers to part of this site in its Historic Environment Assessments (HEA) document East Staffordshire HEA - Appendix 3 - Uttoxeter (4mb) In section 1.5 UTHECZ 5: Highfields Hall it states that ‘The site of a medieval moat lay to the east of the zone; it survived as an earthwork until the 1960s when it was backfilled37. However, there remains the potential for below ground archaeology to survive associated with this site. It appears to have been the property of a branch of the Blount family, but by the late 17th century was being tenanted by a yeoman farmer38. The hall which stood within the moat is said to have been rebuilt by the late 16th/early 17th century and had been demolished by circa 1777. A Grade II Listed animal pound is located to the north east of the zone associated with the hamlet of Blount’s Green39. The pound probably dates to the late 18th century and probably reflects the predominance of grazing in the local agricultural economy at this date. However, it is unclear as to whether this is its original location, although it has been standing on this site since at least the late 19th century. 1.5.2 Heritage values: Evidential value: There is the potential for below ground archaeological remains to survive particularly associated with the moated site. HIGH Historical value: The legible heritage assets comprise the field pattern to the east and the Grade II Listed pound. MEDIUM’ The two farm buildings which currently stand on the proposed site should not be demolished to make way for new homes. Too much of our heritage has been lost to this type of development. Just take a look around Uttoxeter at the architectural vandalism that was done in the 60’s and 70’s when many of the older buildings were demolished instead of being renovated to maintain the character of the old town. This development should not go ahead, the reasons stated are valid and I fully support this petition.

Surely we have enough houses in Uttoxeter without distroying more farm land,there will come a day when we need all the farm land to feed us.

This needs to be stopped, young children safety should come first
