P&Z, please DO NOT approve this plan. A frequent user of the Saugatuck train station, I can attest that traffic and parking are already horrific. I support revitalization of the area but the scope and scale of the proposed project is untenable.

I am a 30 plus resident of Saugatuck Shores. Thus I have experienced first hand the traffic density in the area especially as it pertains to safety. This project is flat out too big and too intense.

As a Greens Farms Road resident, I feel that this horrific “project” will sound a death knell for our community between Hillspoint Road and the Sherwood Island Connector. The traffic situation in this area has become increasingly annoying and will become untenable if the Hamlet is allowed to proceed.. I could cite many more ways in which this is a bad idea, but suffice it to say that no Westporter I know wants this.

I have lived here all my life and seen the changes that have impacted our lives, for better or worse. This development will create traffic and chaos in Saugatuck, add to our housing costs, and is not necessary for outr town's welfare.

Too Big, major traffic problems!!!!

Riverside Avenue already roars with trucks at all hours of the day and night, traffic clogs Bridge Street, and it can take 45 minutes to get to Fairfield. How can traffic analysis support this? Can the fire department support this? The Hamlet could not be more out of character.

Why does it look like a foregone conclusion. It seems no one is really listening to the people of westport.

I oppose the HAMLET plan as it now exists. It would create enormous traffic problems with potential health and safety implications. It would also create an effective cut-off between Saugatuck and Compo, since the bridge between them - already a traffic choke point at some times of day - would become impassible. It is two-lane structure going from and to two-lane roads. Even if the state found the money to rebuild it yet again after its most recent rebuilding, it would still be fed by and feed to two-lane roadways on either side. I don't believe that the area - or Westport as a whole - could handle the proposed change in traffic. This plan should be denied in its current form and revisited to determine if an alternative development plan is feasible.

The density is too high for the area.

Far too big, intrusive and high-end a development for this town. There are better ways to re-develop Saugatuck.

Traffic on Bridge St is a nightmare every rush hour and worse on weekends. Saugatuck has character. The Hamlet doesn’t fit in.

These developers need to read a first-year architecture textbook and learn about the notion of population density. The traffic congestion in Westport is already outrageous.

This would be a disaster. Traffic is already the worst it’s ever been. A 7 minute ride has turned into nearly 45 minutes sometimes. It would also ruin the charm and small town feel that so many love and enjoy. I can think of many reasonable ways to update Saugatuck.
