Hamlet is a disastrous plan for Saugatuck and for Westport. We can do so much better!

I agree with Ken Bernard I have lived in wESTPORT for over 50 years and I do not want the hamlet affordable. Housing would be a much better and more compassionate idea to Westport‘s then an upscale hotel where it cost over six $700 a night to stay WESTPORT is a great town and it doesn’t need all that to make it a great town it already is

Traffic is already a problem in Saugatuck ! This development would cause further congestion. Quality of life over profits for developers! We saved Longshore! We saved Cockenie! We saved Winslow Park! We save Old Mill! Let us save Saugatuck!

This project is grossly overwhelming, will ruin the local command, and will cause massive traffic delays.

Traffic is already out of control around Saugatuck Station. Parking is also a challenge. The volume of people and cars is just not sustainable and will compromise the resources and accessibility of that part of town that will spread to Greens Farms station and areas in between.

We already have traffic congestion in Westport. We desperately need affordable housing so that longtime residents can stay un Westport once they’re retired. This is not the solution we need.

My family has owned a business in Westport for over 50 years. Thus development would ruin the waterfront and make westport a traffic nightmare.

No to this current plan in an area already choked by gridlock. Yes to smart, mixed-use development in line with the values and needs of our community. Create commercial office buildings where workers could arrive by train and take advantage of the great restaurants already in the area. Create mixed income residential so our essential workers can live here. Create a real transit-oriented development plan.

This plan is not viable for an already congested area. Its a shameless grab at making millions for investors, many of whom are members of this community. Its also architecturally unacceptable: not pretty, charming, or classy, and definitely not timeless. commuters already have to sit for way too long in traffic when the train rolls in. This town can do much much better. Lets not rush this through approvals and instead look into other developers/ options.

I have lived in Saugatuck for over 10 year. The area is already overwhelmed by traffic. The Hamlet is far too active use case and far too dense. Saugatuck could benefit from an upgrade with resident use as the highest priority. Think transit oriented housing (including affordable units on site). Westport residents do NOT need a boutique hotel and valet stacked underground parking jamming our streets. Westport also do not need a private boutique development infringing on commuters and railroad parking. Lastly, the idea of an underground tunnel below Riverside Ave. is ludicrous.

The worst sort of public architecture, neither inviting nor practical. A hodge-podge of casino-like design, more at home in Atlantic City or Las Vegas.

Improve Saugatuck 100% and we should. Accept this level of density in a challenged thoroughfare is irresponsible.

Please listen to the majority of Westport residents who are against this out of proportion development which will cause traffic jams and parking mayhem!
