This project is too large and does not meet the needs of Westport and Fairfield County residents. The small Saugatuk waterway would forever be compromised. A project this size better for Bridgeport Harbor.

Please stop Zoom meetings and put this issue in a public venue like Townhall

This project will tremendously impact traffic in an already concentrated area. While revitalization of the Saugatuck is a nice idea, the current Hamlet plans are far from ideal. Bridge Street traffic is existing nightmare that needs not to be exacerbated by a gaudy five-story development.

I want to see revitalization in this Saugatuck area. However I am in favor of a smaller scale development.

Facelift is fine but has someone actually thought about how often underground parking next to the river will flood? The pretty drawings didn't look to scale as Riverside is quiteclose to the river bank. Is there really enough room for a roundabout in front of our bridge?

Too much for an already crowded area. This is near my home and work and I am VERY worried about traffic. I also think the affordable housing promise is too loose. If affordable housing is to be provided, it should be on site here, not some down the road promise. We do not want or need all this additional development in Westport. Sincerely, Ihab Joseph Massoud

This part of town should be a treasure for everyone not just a select few, plus it's the hub for commuters who already struggle with making it to the train on time - this development might look fancy and pretty, however the negative impact on getting through the area from one side of town to the other or to get to the beach, or to Saugatuck Shores, or to bypass the Post Road traffic - to find parking to go out to dinner (that's not going to be easy to do), this design is not taking into account the wishes of the entire community. Look at traffice Post Road any time 4pm to 6:30 - it's always a steady stream of people trying to get somewhere - then when accidents on 95 or Parkway, forget about it (it's a real hassle)!! Take the time to revise, scale everything down and compromise so it's built with more consideration to ALL people nearby with enough parking garages to prevent needing valet parking. Do people really want their $60,000-$100,000 cars being driven by valets and squeezed into tiny spots? Leaves a lot of room for dents, for theft, not to mention will more funds be given to Fire dept and Police and EMS? The developers should be required to pay to add additional staffing and equipment./salaries to keep the area safe. The designs need a lot more input and revisions before anything should be approved.

I am signing this petition for real. I stupidly signed the pro Hamlet one, thinking I was signing yours and sent them a message rescinded that erroneous pro Hamlet petition.

Way too big. Valet parking impractical and elitist. No clear path to affordable housing mandate.

This town cannot handle any more volume. The traffic is not possible with 1 lane roads throughout.

It’s clear that the rapid development in our town is raising significant concerns, particularly regarding traffic congestion and road safety. With the construction of new apartments on Hiawatha Lane (150 plus apartments) and Post Road, (60plus) apartments many residents are understandably worried about how this will further exacerbate an already strained infrastructure. Moreover, the lack of discussion around these pressing issues is perplexing. It would be beneficial for everyone in our community have a stake in ensuring that new developments do not compromise our quality of life. We need a comprehensive approach to urban planning that prioritizes effective infrastructure alongside community growth. Otherwise, we risk turning our streets into bottlenecks instead of pathways for progress. It’s time for our town to address these concerns before the situation becomes unmanageable.

The current plan is too large and will cause dramatic negative change to this section of town.

The Saugatuck neighborhood is ripe for reinvention. The question is scope, scale and style. The current Hamlet proposal swings and misses in all three areas.

City development in a tiny portion of a town. The damage to marine life, and wildlife will be catastrophic. Already choked with traffic.

I agree - insanity! We don't need this - and the disruption to the traffic flow, its already horrible! For what? Shopping? We have shopping. There are huge developments already in progress in town. Maybe those are already more than we need? This is a nightmare.
