No more traffic, this is far too big.

The project is too large, traffic in the area is already too congested, it would cause even worse gridlock than already exists.

Outrageous and large. How can the developers think a little town can handle the traffic this will generate.

It’s ridiculous to think that traffic won’t get worse.

The architecture looks very out of place and not very attractive - it reminds me of an odd mixture of a river boat and apartment buildings on a boulevard in Paris. It should have a New England, coastal town feel to match the other very tasteful redeveloped parts of Saugatuck. It is also too big and too much. I think it needs to be scaled back. If reduced in size and redesigned to be more in keeping with the rest of Westport, it could be a great addition to our community.

Bad decision to permit this

Too large. Previous architecture at least maintained a town feel. New proposal feels like a city, creating a Stamford or Hartford feel.

Smaller scale.

As a lifelong Saugatuck resident for 55+ years, I agree the area needs a facelift, but this is an abomination. How does a plan so absurdly overdeveloped even get considered? Multiple 5 story buildings, tons of retail stores, affordable housing AND a hotel in this tiny community? It's like trying to cram an aircraft carrier into a bathtub. Who benefits? Traffic is already out of control, it'll be years (decades?) of frustrating construction, detours, etc., and this historic area is bulldozed into a packed city nobody wants. Between Main Street, Post Road and a MALL one exit up the highway, how many more retail stores can we possibly need? Please stop this gluttonous approach. Enhance the Saugatuck and its charm, don't destroy it.

Keep Westport from becoming a tourist destination, this is a small already overcrowded town with traffic issues.

Too much density. Will strain town resources and exacerbate already awful traffic at river choke points.

It can take over 20 minutes just to get out of the train station parking lot. I am supportive of development which is needed but don’t see how a hotel or development of this scale is going to improve the traffic which is a mess as it stands. I’m sure the hotel is a back door to make them residential after it fails, just as the SoNO mall will be residential soon enough.

I'm a Saugatuck resident living near "ground zero". I can't even imagine the daily problems this project would create in navigating through this small neighborhood. It will also be bad for the local businesses during the construction phase. People will avoid coming to the area.

Totally against it, congestion is already bad enough in this area as it is.

Moderation should be a big part of the process, the people who’ll profit most from this won’t be the ones dealing with the added stress & costs that overreach will cause.

Saugatuck is already too congested! We live here and it can be a nightmare dealing with the traffic !

This gigantic proposed development is outrageous and will certainly have a negative impact on the current residents, businesses and downtown

This potential build will change the area for ever and has no place in Saugatuck

A very bad idea for Westport. Too dense. Roan said the project had to be this dense to make it profitable…then don’t build it. They said they would build affordable housing at a different location….if anything, Saugatuck would be the best option as there is transportation right there.

I am all for development of the Saugatuck area but i feel the scale is not consistent with the intent of the text amendment and they should revert back to their prior design. I am also strongly opposed to the use of town parking. This request is clearly just a way to decrease development cost at the expense of the town and its residents.
