I oppose involuntary commitment of citizens against their will to mental health wards. Increasing the number of professionals that can "diagnose" people is not the answer. “There are no objective tests in psychiatry-no X-ray, laboratory, or exam finding that says definitively that someone does or does not have a mental disorder.” “There is no definition of a mental disorder. It’s bull—. I mean, you just can’t define it.” — Allen Frances, Psychiatrist and former DSM-IV Task Force Chairman

Giving this kind of power to a wider group of unqualified people -- is just flat-out wrong. Actually, having psychiatry involved at all with these decision is a disaster. But, absolutely allowing that authority to spread to individuals who have no business with that kind of power, must not happen!

The Baker Act and involuntary commitment are true dangers to society and the freedoms guaranteed else under the Constitution!

Please be aware and stop the abuse of psychiatric drugs that have dangerous side effects: increased aggression and suicidall thinking reflections. and they don't cure anything. Involuntary commitment is not something that is needed or wanted.

Involuntary commitment is not something that is needed and is a powerful political "tool" in the wrong hands.

How can anyone make this judgement when there truly is no scientific criteria on which to base that decision?

Please keep pshychiatry a personal thing. Do not give the power to law or others whom do not know the person they want to incarcerate into a life of torture. This is not the answer.
