Off shore oil and gas drilling is not necessary. One alternative would be to provide appropriate Incentives to help people learn to limit their wasteful use of products and services requiring the use of oil.

we have a billion dollar tourist and fishing industry that depends on clean water and air - as soon as you break the surface oil seeps out - its bad enough with the tanker traffic and nuclear waste at the shipyard - the jobs are in clean energy not royalties for out of state corporations.

Please vote "no" to Offshore Drilling. I live in Chesapeake, but very close to the Ches/VB line and we spend quite a bit of time and money in VB and the oceanfront. Would hate to see our beaches and our local water health negatively affected by this.

Offshore drilling is ethically and morally unacceptable in the 21st century. We will not subject our coastlines to the devastating consequences of corporate greed.

Beaches to vulnerable to chance an oil spill from drilling rig. Enough tankers go by already. Shipping lanes and military vessels need space.

Absolutely no need for drilling offshore-the risk far exceeds the rewards. It is bad enough we are sneaking it into the arctic where few can oppose. Please do not endanger our coastline and estuaries-essential for sea life.

Rather have a wind farm; nonpolluting and capable of desalinization as well. Save our ecosystem with its sensitive seafood population.

There are millions of good reasons why offshore drilling should never, ever be allowed off the Virginia coast. Our leaders need to realize they need to do whatever it takes to stop offshore drilling from happening. To do otherwise is reckless and irresponsible.

This very real threat will do irreparable damage...the question is not "IF" but "When" if offshore drilling is approved. COUNCIL SHOULD RESPOND TO THE PEOPLE AND OPPOSE IT.

It is urgent that people of conscience sign and share--this is the single most vital issue affecting the future of Virginia Beach and its natural resources, including the Chesapeake Bay, the ocean, OBX and wildlife--keep them healthy and let's send a very CLEAR message that off-shore drilling is not welcome off the coast.

It is inconceivable that a resort city council would even consider allowing oil drilling on the same coast, much less directly off our shores.
We absolutely do not require a light rail to watch the tar balls roll ashore!
