Horrid idea. There WILL be a spill, that's human nature - combined with Mother nature. In any case, the money stakes are too high for every human involved to be careful. Lose the Beaches and the Eastern shore sinks into chicken dung and abject poverty. And our poverty is bad enough. In any case what are you going to do with a stray rocket's being blown up every now and again. GROW UP FOLKS This is a childish teen's pipe dream with terrible and irreversible consequences GUARANTEED! On the shore, Geo Thermal works VERY well.
(We have it, it's miraculous!)

Do we really need oil floating on our beaches? Is this not our main income, tourism?

Virginia Beach cannot afford to risk damage to our economy and environment that offshore drilling would bring. We need to support renewable energy options such as solar or wind.

Our fragile coastline cannot sustain an oil spill. Not the marine life, not the human life, not the plant life, not the microbiotic life, not the aesthetic life, not the economic life, not the planetary life, not the spiritual life. No drilling please.

Probably are much safer ways to satisfy our needs for energy other than this option which has many potential negative side effects.

The potential to ruin our beaches, wildlife and tourist economy due to an oil spill makes offshore drilling as safe as a game of Russian Roulette. The voters will remember who allowed the catastrophe to occur, and if they don't, I'll remind them!

Virginia Beach's economy depends on tourism. When the beaches are covered with oil that will not be the case. And spills will happen. It is a matter of time.

No offshore drilling on the Virginia Coast. I cannot believe that we are in the year 2015 and still talking about drilling for oil rather than investing in renewable energy. Who is funding our politicians? Who are our politicians serving?
