I grew up in the Tidewater area, beach time was always precious time to my family. Especially sitting on the shore watching the dolphins play in the waves. One little spill from off shore drilling, I shutter to think how many dolphin and marine animals would first suffer and then cease to exist.

In a day and age where insight and intelligence regarding the environment appears to be moving in a more positive direction, let's keep the momentum going with no offshore drilling once and for all. The statistics on the coastal impact prove drilling to be counterproductive to the environment. Period.

It is insane that our Congressman Rigell is still in favor of drilling here - mindless. The push should be for renewable energy sources and not those that threaten the environment and Virginia's biggest resort.

Dear Virginia Beach Council,
I disagree with drilling on the coast of Virginia Beach; this can cause damage to multiple things in the area. It could harm animals and the ocean and someone in the city is going to have to pay for those damages. It will pollute if destroyed or damaged. Taxes will go up and will anger citizens in the area, and the tourism will go down which means less money for the city. Fishing will also be suspended which people sell fish for restaurants, jobs will also be dropped. Virginia Beach is already having enough problems please don’t add more please try to understand the damage that it can cause to the environment and to other human beings. Please do not destroy our city.

Please say NO to offshore drilling! NO neutral, NO maybe. As people meet in France this week for a combined effort to combat climate change and the world works to enact the elimination of fossil fuel extraction and move to renewable sources, let us get a head start and make the right choices and make the decisions that make sense for the future of our generations and those after. Please say NO! Keep the carbon in the ground! Lets do what we can to restore our shore and our world to what it was before greed and selfishness took over. These resources are finite, and we have the will and capability to seek renewable and alternatives that have far less risk than offshore drilling. Please say NO! Thank you!
