Assalam alaikum dear Abraar community (parents, students, board, admin, teachers) Unfortunately MAC and Abraar are insisting on setting priorities that are quite different than the parents' and students': http://secondarybulletin.abraarschool.com/2015/06/pre-ramadan-eid-mini-bazar-sat-june-9.html I second this forum in that BOTH financial and educational decisions taken by the school board lack transparency and consultation with the highest stake holders, i.e., the parents. It is not only our finances, but most importantly our most precious children that we bestow as amanah upon the school board and staff. Shura and cooperation is strongly recommended in Islam; and Abraar is showing an indifferent attitude towards compliance. Wassalam Shermeen Nizami

Dear School Administrators and Members of the board: I am writing with regards to your stated intention of enforcing a school uniform from a specific vendor next year. Please be informed that my children will not be complying with this policy as I squarely object to the one vendor policy because it lacks transparency and options. If this is grounds for dismissal from the school next year please state that clearly and unambiguously in official communication and on public forums. Also please be informed that any attempt to do such enforcement that may subject the children to any kind of mental or physical pressure will be countered by all legal means in all possible venues. Regards, Abdelrahman Amer.

I think parents should have a say in this and a better enforcement of the current uniformshould be done before making this decision. If you still insist on purchasing from one vendor a 2 year heads up would be appreciated, as most parents buy ahead. I hope that the school would reconsider.

Not all parents can afford paying for selected uniforms AND pay the fees...

I already bought uniforms for next year from Old Navy... No more returns possible, so what other options do I have ? Not fair to only know about this now!

I will not buy uniforms from this vendor! Instead, I will send them to school with the pants and shirts I purchased from other stores when they were on sale. I will not throw out newly purchased items just because they are different shades of blue.

Please reconsider this decision and try to enforce the current uniform instead.

Forward planning by 2 years is helpful for allowing parents of multiple kids to budget for this kind of expense as my girls' school uniforms and my boy's shirts typically last well through 2 or 3 years of use/hand-me-down. What to do with uniforms already purchased? At least the white tops were reusable for non-school wear but the blue is too school uniform'ish. In fact still use the white tops since I bought lots 2 years a ago, then I bought 10 blue tops, and for next school year I have no plans to go with any new vendor, policy or no policy. Surely we have far higher priorities & needs to focus on - the playground where my children keep falling would be a better place to put the money in and improve for all, and whatever happened to the elementary school science lab? Maybe school bus too?- all sadaqah jaariyah, not this obsession with shades of blue, subhanAllah!

I think Parents deserve to have a say in this.

I would say school has to keep its focus on bringing humbleness in kids rather than teaching them apparently looking perfect...this is unnecessary at all. ..

It should never be mandatory but optional for parents to purchase from a certain vendor. He must offer his best, quality wise and price wise to get the customers. The issue of no returns no refunds should be discussed from the school with the vendor as well.

Last year it was turned into blue and this year it was a must.. And we bought all this blue tops. Now we have to buy new uniform. That's not right. If you give it a 2 year notice then that might be planned ahead.

No, Thank you. It will be a financial burden with no benefit whatsoever. Parents do their best to get the uniform at their convenient time, price, and place, why add the stress. At the end, even if the color from the same manufacture, washing it in different washer will get different results of shades, how will we solve that?...with the fact that all students looks already very good in the meantime arrangements.

I think as parents we have enough stress and financial loads .We don't need any more loads.
