Wrong location! 3 schools are affected. The mini ideal school & elementary school are just across the street from the proposed modular housing site and the high school is the next block from the site. It's unsafe for children to be so close to these homeless people!

isn't that people don't want to help the homeless. It's that they don't want their neighbourhoods to be literal dumping grounds the city is using to alleviate the DTES.
If the people housed in that housing unit are also getting actuall support, including proper mental health resources, drug addiction treatment, and weekly visits and check-ins and are well on their way to actually recover, then I think most are going to be supportive. But given this city's track record, it's more than likely the government are literally just building a glorified storage shed to place the homeless in so they're out of site from the downtown core.

Way too close to schools. Can't guarantee all the students' safety. Build at another location

The chosen location is directly across from an elementary school and it is a great concern that there will be an impact to the safety of the children.

Without hearing the voices of the Marpole community, it is preposterous and absolutely unacceptable that the city chooses to establish housing ACROSS the street from an ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOL to facilitate homeless individuals and those with mental illnesses and addictions. Their reassurance that they will conduct regular needle and drug paraphernalia searches in our neighbourhood is an extremely frightening thought as it confirms the unsafe implications this type of housing will bring upon our streets. IF THIS PROJECT DOES NOT TERMINATE, BE SURE THAT WE WILL BE TAKING ACTION TO ENSURE ALL MEDIA OUTLETS ARE NOTIFIED OF THIS CITY’S DECISION. WE WILL BE CONTACTING TV STATIONS, NEWSPAPERS, AND RADIO STATIONS ALL ACROSS BC AND CANADA.

I do not agree homeless should be housed closed to elementary school & Churchill High, I recommend using one of the stadiums or something not so close to residential area

This is evidently poorly planned by the Mayor and the city! No thorough thought process invested in the location chosen nor accountability for the future of the kids that will be greatly affected by this so-called "temporary" plan (minimum 5 yrs but potentially 10 yrs). It doesn't take a smart person to see how wrong the chosen location is for this project (literally across from 3 schools!!!!) - use some common sense Mayor Greogory Robertson! Tax payers do not PAY you salary for you to slack and twiddle your fingers in your office! Wake up!

No, I do not want the city to let homeless residents into a high school area where youths can be easily influenced by them.
