imagine the conversation the mayor and his council had deciding to put this project across from schools.
"We should put it on the Westside so the Eastside residents don't think we are always picking on them."
"So where on the westside?"
"Kerrisdale?"
"No! That's where my friends live"
"Shaughnessy?
"No. The donor's to our party live there."
"Dunbar."
"No! My child goes to private school there."
"West Point Grey?"
"Wait... No I live there!"
"Kits"
"No. Our develops buddies live there."
"Marpole!"
... ... ... ...
"Good idea. But where in Marpole?"
"Across the street from Laurier, Churchill and Ideal Schools! The homeless and all the children should get along."
"Great Idea. Good work everybody."
That's how their secret meeting played out in my head.

Stop buildings the modular homes in this area. Seniors and kids in the area should be your concerns too! Consult the public first.

Bad idea, worst location! Most of homeless people in Metro Vancouver can earn their dignity via hard working, but they chose not doing so. It's their choice that has a consequence. They don't deserve free housing! It's even shameful for those idiot politicians to pick this location without any consultation to local community or residents. IT MUST STOP!

My son study at Laurier now,then he will go to Churchill ,I warry about his safty very much because too many homeless will come here,I cannot sleep at night now

1. City relentlessly doesn't provide adequate advance notice and meaningful engagement with its neighbourhoods. Hypocrisy of "done deals" and after-the fact 'consultation' is disrespectful, shabby
politics & a disservice to sound approaches to housing solutions, sorely needed. COV learned nothing from Marpole Rezoning experience.
2. Housing for homeless critically needed, but not at the expense of apprehensive, possibly endangered students and their families ... not in a location bereft of services ... and not in a fashion guaranteed to further stigmatize and alienate the new & existing resident populations.

Wrong location! What moron thought this would be a good location where elementary kids go to school? Anyone who says this is a good idea should document that, so this project is moved in their neighbourhoods. Better yet, let's move it to Mayor Robertson's neighbourhood!

This is another example of the city not engaging, or consulting with the Marpole Community prior to a decison. The decision was made without input from Marpole residents. I saw this same lack of engagement when "COV announced the yellow map indicating the rezoning of Marpole in 2013."
There are more appropiate locations for the homeless than next to the schools.
I am so disappointed the you have learned nothing!
