This is a perfect opportunity for SUSD to show they are really invested in the Social Emotional Learning of kids. Actions speak louder than words. Once again, grade level and struggling students are overlooked. SUSD has the money, they are making a choice to not use it in the best interest of the kids. The decision was already made before the community knew about it. Is this the SUSD board representing the community?

If the district is truly concerned with the social emotional well being of the kids then they will keep class sizes small. I guess we will see what their priorities are... kids or money?

Are you kidding? For the funding that SUSD receives per student, the district is contemplating "minimum bar" for student to teacher ratio? We moved to Saratoga for the balanced and small classes!

My children benefited from smaller class sizes at SUSD and I think this is important for the current and future generation of students.

Large class size increase does nobody justice to their teaching/learning.

Smaller class sizes allow teachers to truly get to know the kids. Middle school is such a pivotal time in students lives and they need to be able to connect with their teachers. It’s ridiculous when our district has the opportunity to keep class-size a small yet they make decisions that are not best for the kids. School boards listen when parents speak up - so make your voices heard.

As a parent and retired Saratoga teacher, I can attest to the value of personal attention through small class sizes. This Saratoga value will be lost in large classes. Brace yourself for your child to be overlooked.

One of the chief attractions that drew me to Saratoga was the quality of education. Class size and instructor to student ratio are the most critical factors contributing to the quality of education. Large class sizes is the wrong direction to go.

We moved to Saratoga 13 years for the amazing school system. When I attended orientation w/my first child at SES, the PTA chair described Saratoga schools like getting a private school education for free. Small class sizes are a large part of what make our schools so special. Smaller class sizes allow the teacher to give ALL students the attention that they need. Small class sizes allow more time to do extra projects that might be more difficult to handle with a large group. Small class sizes create a less stressful work environment for the teacher and students. As a property tax payer, I am perplexed why I pay more taxes each year (more $$), enrollment has decreased(less students) and you continue to cut teachers and increase class sizes?

Unfortunately the districts superintendent is incompetent. The District oversight Board needs to step up and investigate a litany of misuses of power and make a change for positive impact. The value proposition of the districts education system and brand continues to be eroded and the appropriate authorities are sitting by letting it happen.
