An absolute NO to increasing class size .
One of the reasons I send my kid to Foothill elementary is because the class sizes are reasonably small to get enough attention from the teacher . Any increase in number of kids in a class would dilute the quality of education.

I am very against increasing the size of the class in Saratoga. This will lead to lower academic attention to kids and decreased performance.

Once again it deeply saddens me to see our wonderful parents resort to petitions to be heard. I believe historical references are important and will help board members understand one of the unique features that attract parents to this community and this is the fact that the teacher : student ratio was a goal Superintendent Weiss wanted to preserve and that was 1:22-24 for the elementary schools and 1-24-28 for redwood middle school where possible (sometimes given the subject the latter was not possible). This was a statement Weiss made during a Public Board Open session around 2012 approximately. He understood the importance of preserving this goal. Can we NOT become Cupertoga? Superintendent Nancy Johnson, you have made another serious judgement call, board members, you have been elected to serve your community and not the superintendent, we will hold you accountable and we are watching but I am certain you will fix this mistake. Looking forward to an email ascertaining this.

My son graduated from Argonaut last year and one of the main things he enjoyed about this school compared to where we moved from, was the personalized attention from the teachers and the ability to form relationships within his classes. If we reduce classes, we lose the chance to develop those many fewer leaders for our community. We increase class sizes, we tire the teacher, reduce their attention span, increase distraction for kids. In short, we of all communities cannot afford this, especially in light of reduced enrollments. We will further be compelled to send our wards to private schools, which are not desirable for them or us. We would rather put that investment into our public schools. So, please help and find other ways to cut the deficit.

We purchased our home in the Saratoga school district based on the quality of the schools and thoughtful teachers and community. With a strong focus on education and the development of a whole person, and a diverse student body, small class sizes allow for individual attention and a sense of security and trust among the students. Please maintain small classes to ensure this continues !!

28 kids per class will not for work. It will create too much burden on teacher. Some of quiet kids will be totally ignored.

District should strive to higher quality of education and work out the budget on other ways. Increasing class size has direct impact on quality of education.

I really think that smaller class sizes are necessary and beneficial to the students. The only reason I stayed in this school district was because of the commitment to smaller class sizes.

I strongly support smaller class sizes. A great school is one of the key reasons for us moving to Saratoga - and I would really want to keep the education quality high through smaller class sizes.

Currently at SES we have 24 students per class for 3rd grade. 28 is crazy, feel blessed that you are only at 19 currently at Argonaut.
