At this rate, over 46% of the signatures were from persons in Jamaica, not good for a petition that is supposed to be only relevant to Jamaicans who live in Jamaica, and who would be somehow affected by the British government proposal to build a prison in Jamaica hosting prisoners of Jamaican citizenship from the U.K.

This whole thing is potentially being blown out of proportion. Jamaica's history is full of politically motivated protests which are usually used to forward some individual's private agenda. Consider that the savings by the British gov't of 10 million pounds does not mean that Jamaica would be spending the same amount, as Jamaica's prisons don't have the same costs/amenities, etc as a British prison would. Also, some of the prisoners may be born in Britain, but British law long ago established that if both parents are non-British then they would have to apply for citizenship in Britain. This means such a prisoner would be deported to Jamaica regardless. Jamaica is a sovereign country, so they are under no legal obligation to continue the incarceration of anyone sent to such a Jamaican-based prison.

We must not let this happen. It means the British view us as narrow minded. Is this what the PM meant or was referring to when she stated that, when she us finished fixing up her constituency (which has been abandoned and only remembered by her when an election is coming up to give hand outs), it us going to be crisp like biscuit? Apparently that's where she plans to put the prison. Omg!!!!

takes back with the other as UK's tax savings will be Jamaica's burden.
