AP classes were the stepping stone for me to know I could succeed in college, and coming from a low income community AP classes helped motivate me to learn more of what is out in the world to achieve!!

I am outraged at the fact that this institution is even entertaining the idea of reducing the amount of AP courses offered to students. This is achieving only one thing, depriving our future generations of expanding their knowledge!

Working at a university, I can understand the financial struggle of running courses with low enrollments. However, I do not believe in limiting students especially with education. These AP courses will assist students in furthering their education. If anything, the school should market and recruit more students to challenge themselves, explain how these AP courses can give students a head start in college if they pass the exams.

As an AHS alumni the AP courses I took opened up many opportunities for me my first year such as, being able to take upper division classes due to test scores, seen as a competitive applicant and challenging myself in other course subjects. AP courses are a way for students to challenge them selves as well as being able to build to their college applications. Therefore, if they are removed the students won't have the opportunity to do so. This is alarming for those future generation college students because their opportunities are being narrowed down and the goal for a high school should be to prepare them.

AP courses help students prepare for academic rigor in college. Taking that opportunity away from future graduating classes, is setting back our community.

As an alumni of AHS, I feel that taking away AP classes isn't the right thing to do in order for the school to make compromises. Despite myself being in AP classes, I didn't pass many of them(due to my own accord), but I've gained valuable insight to many subjects in high school that I wouldn't get with a regular english or math course. Keep them in for the students who genuinely want to succeed in their education. Don't limit high school students' potential, please.

As an alumni of AHS I can say that the AP courses have helped me get ahead in college. If u had not taken any AP courses I was be at the lowest entry-level classes for college which puts you behind on graduating on time and cost more money that most of us don't have. Just my statement doesn't mean it's right.

AP classes were the highlight of my high school career. Not only are they more involved, they also allow students to push their limits and allow them to move ahead before even starting college!! Don't cut them !!!!

This was forwarded to me by a top student at AHS. I assume the problem is cost. Please be creative and find a way fulfill the needs of the aspiring student(s). There are flexible ways to run classes these days.
