Say NO to Increased Traffic Congestion on Miller Avenue

I live on Parkwood Ave and have already seen how congested and dangerous it is to have the traffic down to one lane. My children and I bike frequently and cars don't notice us in the "bike lane". Please consider keeping Miller Ave to 2 lanes. Too many people live in mill valley to have it be a one lane street. Have you been in sir Francis drake lately? It's a nightmare. Why recreate that in MV?

I can't even begin to understand why one would think to make any part of Miller Ave one way. Is the bikers? If it is, then shame on them...

I adamantly do not agree with the reduction of the number of lanes on Miller Ave. It is short-sighted of City Council to approve this change. The reduction in lanes already made to Miller has greatly impacted the outbound traffic times on Blithedale Ave. during the school year. This change is unacceptable!

Please stick with your original plan to keep Miller Avenue as two lanes. It feels very unjust that you are going back on this agreement. I feel this is a betrayal to the people of Mill Valley that have trusted you.

The more recent reduced traffic on Miller was probably due to drivers avoiding the construction on Miller. We need two lanes.

Unacceptable and foolish to reduce lanes to one each way. High-end home construction, gardners, cleaners and nannies will only increase in MV. Also, it should be obvious that for more than a year Miller commuters have been using Blithedale. Not realistic or intelligent to have "observed" that the traffic volume could handle lane reduction.

As I am off E Blithdale I am in favor of the 2 lanes. We have so much cut through from Miller already and they speed through the neighborhood. I would also think this would help move traffic more quickly than EBlithedale. E Blithdale is so congested during morning and evening commute time and 12 noon and on on Friday's and weekends.diandreoli

My experience with one lane traffic between downtown and Willow Street has been negative. I vastly prefer two lanes. With one lane, a big bike lane and new parking on the right side Miller as I head south, it is so easy to be caught behind an ultra-slow driver going under 30 miles an hour, which just tempts hot doggers to swerve around dangerously to get ahead. No one likes the one lane of Blithedale, where now it takes up to 40 minutes to travel from downtown to 101--why do we want the same situation on Miller?

We need two lanes to reduce congestion!

Please keep the two lanes. At present the traffic does not seem Bad to you, but that is because a huge number of us avoid going in Miller during construction. Please honor the master plan and keep what was proposed originally.

Function must prevail. We need improved traffic flow out of and into Mull Valley. Do not make it worse! We need more lanes, better traffic control, timed lights and local pressure to improve traffic.

I've shown a number of homes for sale recently in Cascade Canyon, Middle Ridge and Blithedale Canyon. Buyers (and mine) are not only concerned with traffic but the huge FIRE danger when (Not if) and the exit strategy from any part of Mt. Tam/downtown. I'm wondering what plan the fire department has and how insurance companies will respond to this permanent lane change?

Miller and E.Blithedale are MV's sole arterials to 101. Their traffic has been the city's #1 issue for years. The 10 years-in-the-making Miller plan promised continuation of two lanes. The vast majority of commuters want this. No one wants to experience diminished traffic flow on Miller having been there, done that on E. Blithedale. Thank you for your reconsideration.

Traffic is already congested on Miller. With only one lane each way it makes this situation worse. It will make it harder for cars to get out of parking and on to the road.

More than anything, I am concerned by the complete disregard for a process that took 5 years, a lot of studies, reports and input from neighbors, neighborhood and communities to reach the decision that was reached - and then suddenly, what appears to be on a whim, the entire process is cast aside without the public process it should have.

Please don't the lanes on Miller ave The # of bicyclests that will use the new lane is far out weighed by the # of motorists that need access to the downtown area. Alternatively see what happens by temporarily coning out a lane.

It makes zero sense that you can make an on-the-fly decision as important as this one with nothing to basis it on other than some kind of holism. You really shouldn't be listening to pro or con petitions here, but rather looking to the expert opinion implicit in years of planning that you already have. Further, it's going to cost over $100,000 to enact this experiment, so you're not being good stewards of citizens' money. I'd be willing for you to spend that money on a traffic "study" (if you must) at some point in the future if Miller seems underutilized at peak periods (it won't). Please stick to the original plan.
