This is fucking ridiculous. The fact that im going to have yo pay 10 grand a semester for being a lawful citizen and someone who is in jail for like murdering someone gets yo go to college for free is ludicrous.

They are already getting everything free. Tax papers are paying for them to sit on their backside and do nothing. That is why so many are repeat offenders. If you are offering free college give it to the people that worked hard in school and thoses adults that have worked hard in the world, who want to better themselves. Also look at helping thoses who have high student loans to pay back and are having a hard time because of no jobs or low paying ones. Pay theirs off.

i worked and so did my kids and husband to pay for college they have forfeited their rights by being in prision and i don't feel that i need to pay for them

We sacrificed so that our children could go to college. There are so many children deserving of an advanced education who cannot afford to get one. It is unconscionable that lawbreakers in prison could receive a FREE college education while law-abiding citizens have to struggle to get one. I am oppoted to this legislation!!

We need to change the focus of our system from punishment this will help lower recidivism rates. A cocaine addict that recieves a college education will be able to cope with his addiction after an associates degree instead of drug rehabilitation?

The Governor's must have lost his mind; He is telling people that if you commit a crime your educatiion will be paid for; we have kids that need funds for college; and he is proposing this.
