It's absolutely unacceptable to consider providing free college educations to inmates, when law abiding hard working citizens struggle to provide the same for their children. In addition, if an inmate can be college-educated for $5K per year, why is the cost to the rest of us so high?

All this will do is to encourage poor youths to commit crimes, to get their housing, meal plan, and tuition all paid for. Next you will see the Gov offering full pardons for their sentances too, so that they will not have a record when they get out.

Any funds that are available should be given to the schools and focused on educating our law abiding citizens. How about we try educating them before they become criminals instead of rewarding them once they have broken the law?

NO! Not when we struggle to educate the productive members of our society. There are enough educated criminals already in the system, give them the opportunity to educate their fellow inmates under structure and guidence. We pay approximately $60,000 in tax money for each inmate as it is. Just like schools, small businesses and working families have to do..refigure your budget and make it work with what you have!

I've done everything right in my life- Graduated second in my highschool class, went onto college and worked for my degree and then graduated from Chiropractic School in 2011. Now, I am staring down the barrel of $190,000 in student loan debt. I pay a thousand dollars a month, in interest alone. I went into both colleges fully aware of my impending debt. However, the idea that prisoners could get their education for free is highly insulting. How about if we help our college graduates out. You know, the ones that pay 6.8% compounding interest rates? This idea is absurd, insulting, offensive and frankly exactly what is wrong with this country. Maybe we should stop encouraging crime and teenage pregnancy with free education.

I do not agree with free for inmates while it remains not free for hard working law abiding citizens . Cuts to TAP , Schools And allowing collages to raise their tuition .
