RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!! So Coumo says these prisoners & that will keep them from committing crimes?!?! Yes cause educated people don't commits crimes, right?!?!?! If he wants to give money away for education give the kids the money $5000 a year during high school for college!!!!

This money should be given to those who are in debt and working but student loans are so big we can't get out from under them. Free education for prisoners who commit crimes but struggling middle class people who work get no debt forgiveness. Absolutely ridiculous!

How about paying our NYS students that go to SUNY school their full tution. They pay Room and board and you pay the tutiion part. This is crazy to reward people that end up in jail free college educ. If they were to pay it back after leaving jail in a timely manner that would be ok, but again no exception to paying it back. If it isn't paid you take their state and fed. returns. CRAZY

Completely against this! We have schools who are laying off Teachers, kids who don't have the resources they need to excel in school and because of this end up on the streets, getting in trouble, going to jail, leading to prison and then we have to take care of them as adults. How about we spend and extra $5000 on each child in this state, give them a better education, resources they need to succeed, after school programs that foster civic and community service, keep them off the streets and help build a bigger brighter future so these kids don't end up in jail at all. I can't even believe that our main concern is giving convicted criminals a college education! I had to pay for my College Education. It took me 10 years to pay off my student loans. I am a tax payer, not the prisoner in Jail! unbelievable, who makes these recommendations? has this country gone completely insane! This is a terrible idea. I can't even believe it was recommended.

why not amend the program,,,,,,,,,, everyone else has to pay back the monies borrowed for their education, why shouldn't they have to as well. They are being provided with a means to earn a living. If they are not willing to agree to this then they don't deserve to have an education, especially on my $

Seems to me that inmates might have professed an interet in an education prior to commiting a crime. Room and board should be enough!!!

I hope all the criminals have graduated from a Common Core-aligned program before they attend Attica University! The Gov. needs to keep out of NYS education-he obviously doesn't have a clue!
