I spent 14 years paying off my graduate school loans. And if I'm not mistaken, this has been tried before in the 90s - wasn't a success then.

If my son has to pay for college when he graduates in June and having never been in trouble with the law why should law breakers go on the state

I have so much student loan debt, and now my children are aquiring it as well. Please help people who are honest hardworking taxpayers in NYS. If a person is in prison they have committed a crime and have lost their priviledges to a college education! This education is a priviledge not a right. My family has struggled to make ends meet in this economy and in these tough times, by giving a free college education to inmates you are giving us a slap in the face. You might as well tell my children that they can get a free education if they commit a crime! What example are we setting NY! The Governor needs to wake up and look at his constituents and the real life problems they face. This is something for political reasons and we can see through it!.

This is a ridiculous idea. Why should convicted felons get a free ride while others go deep into debt for the same thing

Once again, the deadbeats & criminals are rewarded. What about the people & students who work hard & pay their own way (and all the lazy deadbeats way as well)? Doesn't pay to be decent, law abiding citizen these days.

I will be paying school loans until I am in my mid-50s. My husband will as well. I had no choice but to get my Master's Degree for my profession, a teacher. Perhaps put more money into education (private and public schools) and allow us to help our students become active members of society before they end up in jail or prison.
CUOMO HAS TO GO!!!!!!!
