No taxpayer should pay for criminals while the average young person is trying to pay off there tuition off, while working part time jobs. Stop the Free Loading in this state. My niece works 3 waitress jobs to pay her tuition off.

It is so sorely ridiculous for our government to even entertain the IDEA of taking heard earned NYS Taxpayer dollars for the education of criminals. I will not call them inmates, that is simply a politically correct spin on what the situation is. They have been convicted of crimes. They are doing time for those crimes. They do not deserve perks. Our state is in sad shape, and those of us continue to stay don't necessarily agree with some of the policies and decisions that happen in Albany, but this one crosses the line and is a slap in the face to each and every NYS resident who either has paid off college tuitions, is struggling to pay them, or trying to find a way to GO to college. Really? Take care of the people first who have continually supported this state with a better life and do NOT give to those who have affected and changed the lives of some of those very citizens’ lives with their crimes. You are public servants. Start serving the public.

I would like to see a survey of the courses inmates would like to take. I suspect many in law or legal course to learn and teach others how to be better criminals. Just think . . .a BA for $5000 . . .oops I mean for free. I am 59 years old with a high school diploma, couldn't afford school, didn't qualify for gov handouts.

Absolutely not, unless NYS would like to pay back my $60,000+ College Loans that I'm working 2 jobs to pay off! And in case you're wondering...yes, I graduated Magna Cum Laude and am working in the field of Education with a Master's Degree. START FUNDING PUBLIC EDUCATION AND STOP REWARDING CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR. THIS IS ABSURD!!!

vote NO!!! our children are being held prisoner by the costs of their college educations. Lets let the governor address that by aiding college graduates, working to pay back their loans, and or their parents, no matter where they reside ..with some financial assistance

I would like to see any extra funding go to hard working, law abiding young adults. Put the money into grants for students who have stayed on track. Currently I have a daughter who is a junior with a 3.617 average, with accelerated/honors classes, plays 3 sports and involved in the school band. She will get no extra help coming from the average middle class family. This needs to stop!

This is ridiculous! What is the benefit of me working two jobs and a struggling middle class citizen?! I am working off my loans, have a ton more to pay for...I feel like committing a crime!

I have an honor roll daughter that will be going to college soon. We are struggling to find a way to pay for this and also survive current middle class life in NYS. Letting my daughter hear that the Governor is considering using taxpayers money for inmates college education is a slap to the face of my daughter and all of her hard work. Her mother and I work full time jobs and do everything right. This is just appauling to me. It is a new all time low in the Governors office.
