If this does pass I think there should be proviso that any prisoner earning a degree paid for by NY should have to work off that tuition in a work program. Also maintain at least a B average to continue in the program. No free rides. I think rehab is good, teach a trade. I also think there are to many kids who would like to go to college and can't afford tuition. Seems wrong that a criminal gets a free education when a good kid can't. Something is very wrong with his picture.

A college education in New York State does not get you a job. If you want the inmates to have a meaningful occupation, relocate them out of state. That would be money well spent.

Unbelievable. I never went to college because I couldn't afford it. I guess all I have to do is kill someone so I can get free college classes. This is DISGUSTING!!!!!!

I am an adult full-time student who works my butt off full-time to pay for tuition and bills. I don't qualify for financial aid because I was brought up to earn your way, and I'm not living off the system. I do not feel I should be penalized for trying to better myself the right way instead of going out to commit crimes living off of us hard-working taxpayers! So should I go out and commit a crime to get my student loans paid off? Cuomo needs to be impeached before he can inflict any more damage on NYS!

No free college for them - low cost loans,work programs. I can barely help middle class sin afford college! Free to all teens and those in inner cities prone to crime.
