I have 3 children who are facing college in their futures. My husband and I have 4 college degrees between us that we are still paying loans for over 20 years later. My husband cannot find full employment in NY. We need to give criminals a FREE education? That's insane! Let them work for it the way I have had to do!

I'm currently not attending college because I cannot afford it and have to work instead. Prisoners get degrees for free while I'm working really hard just to be able to pay for mine? I don't think so!

Many people have taken time out of their lives to get an education and done it the right way. Allowing a convict to get an education after taking away from someone else's life, and expecting the public they've wronged to pay for it is asinine. NUTS! as they say...

There are several individuals struggling to pay for higher education that are not incarcerated that should receive assistance FIRST.

I am not in favor of providing free college education to inmates. This is wrong when thousands of New York residents are struggling to pay for their education. The tax payers cannot afford to do this. We are already the highest taxed state, this is an outrage! Governor, you need to rethink this decision.

This is the most ludicrous proposal I've heard yet. Why should we REWARD prisoners????

as a 2nd time student who has already obtained a BA and has decided to go back to school to get my RN I am disgusted with this plan. I have thousands of dollars in student loan debt and still can not get any assistance from the government to help me accomplish my RN cert. Now I'm not looking for hand out, just some help entering a field that is so clearly looking for good people like myself. I want to help my community so help me do that! don't help people who have done nothing to contribute to the places we call home. this is just another example of how our government as a whole continues to treat the symptoms of problems and never the causes. let's make education a right not a privilege and remove profit business from our prison system.. that would be true reform, that would benefit us all. Cuomo do better for the kids and young adults of his state.

Cuomo has lost it completely. He can pay off the balance on my Sallie Mae. Prisoners do not deserve a free college degree. Most probably don't even have a GED. Really Dude!!!
