while educating inmates who will be released into the community is essential, I don't believe we should be using tax dollars to pay for it at this time. If money is available for education I believe it should be used for financial assistance for those who have done the right thing but are stuck in a low income family situation, or to retrain people like myself who, through no fault of our own, have been unemployed far longer that benefits have supported.

there are parents that can't afford to send thier own kids to college, and you want thier taxes to be used for criminals? Please tell me how this makes sense on any level. Use our taxes to help the failing public schools. You continue to allow people to suck the blood of the working class. Im am sick to death with the bullshit that goes on in this state, if you continue like you are, pretty soon you will be getting more of my paycheck than I do. Are any of you ashamed as politicians?

When is enough enough? It costs approximately 60k to house an inmate each year. Now the governor wants to spend another 5k per inmate? Does he have any idea how much money the average family earns in New York State? Less than 60k dollars. And he is asking those same families who make that money to portion it to college payments with little assistance from the government. The governor needs to realize that prison isn't a reward system; it is a punishment for breaking the law and being disorderly in society.

NYS cut my son's college scholarship program, and now wants to fund this rediculous plan. My son was a high school valedictorian... they are felons. Another brilliant move, governor.

I think this is ridiculous. I am a widowed single mother paying on my daughter's student loan. I feel prisoners lose there right to a free education when their choosen actions put them in prison in the first place.

I am a senior NYS resident who has worked all my life. I have never received anything free from NYS. In fact, I have paid dearly to all in need! I'm done.

Why should I have to pay thousands of dollars to warehouse these criminals and now pay more for them to go to college. I say no unless they are going to pay for everyone's college.
