This is nuts! I had to PAY in full for my 3 kids to go to college. We are middle class and it was NOT easy. Quit giving away OUR money for free!

What is the world coming to? "Go to jail, get a free education"... While I, a law abiding citizen, struggle to pay student loans on time, a mortgage and taxes. My tax money will go to convicted felons and their education!? No. Sad that we have to fight to block something like this. Enough.

I find it absurd that we would consider giving convicts a free education when there are so many good law-abiding citizens that can't afford to go to college. I personally borrowed big in order to pay for my education and I was appalled by the Governor's "idea"!

I cannot support this when I, as a working class citizen, am deeply in debt from going to college all because I came from a middle class family who could not afford to send me to school. If you can pay for offenders, why not pay for those who aren't within the prison system first. We haven't broken laws and yet we're being "punished" with debt just so we can get a decent paying job to survive in this economy. When you pay for the working and middle classes, then we'll talk about giving paid education to criminals.

I am over 70,000 dollars in debt to be a teacher. Cuomo needs to try rewarding some of the people who actually deserve it!

By the time I graduate this May, I will have accrued over $100,000 in student loans that will come due by the fall. I have never been in trouble, never been in prison, never assaulted, killed, raped, done drugs, or stolen from someone. My reward for living a law-abiding life? Monstrous student loan debt so I could attain my MBA and use it to get a better job. 54,500 people who have NOT led a law-abiding life, who have assaulted, killed, raped, done drugs, and/or stolen from others will get a free education--an education, moreover, that I will pay for with my taxes on top of my own student loan debt! I'm not certain what the purpose behind such a proposal is, especially when NY has cut the availability of tuition assistance to those who not only need it, but those who are contributing, law-abiding, members of society. I'm say NO WAY to free college for prisoners. They did the crime, they can do the time, and they can find the means to pay for their own education without using me or my tax dollars at the expense of my own budget and family!

my son who is now in the Coast guards has 60,000 student loans, we have agout 30,000 as he could not get any funding. How dare you give free tuition to criminals, make them pay like we do. We alread give the board and food and free medical treatment
