Absolutely ridiculous. A slap in the face to law-abiding tax payers. Please don't do this; it will not work anyway.

Tax paying citizens earn degrees, have difficulty finding jobs, and are still paying off college debt. Criminals should not be privileged in receiving free college education funded by the same tax paying citizens mentioned previously. In addition, I have close ties to the corrections and prison system, many inmates struggle with high school level work and are often repeat offenders. Providing them free college degree opportunities makes no sense. This real data clearly shows Governor Cuomos "data" in not aligned with the reality in New York State. We are already the "go to" state for welfare, let's not become the "go to" state for committing crimes.

Why pay for a school loan for 10 to 15 years when you could go to jail for 5 and get it free.

I have 2 sons in college now. Will have a third by the fall of 2015. Where are our free college programs? It's time for workfare in New York, not welfare.

Free college to prisoners is a slap in the face of every hard working person. Give the prisoners a real education and send them to war on the front line instead of doing nothing.

We need to be looking for ways to make college education affordable for conscientious students in NYS not individuals that have made other decisions for themselves. All for rehabilitation but not at the tax payers expense. That money could pay better dividends invested in students that could really use that money that can't afford to go to college.

A totally ridiculous idea! What's next -- should I suggest to my grandchildren that they rob a convenience store prior to filling out loan applications?

This is just plain absurd! I am a college graduate trying to make a positive impact on society as a teacher. I have loans and am not receiving any help from NYS! Why not?

I'm a good citizen with no criminal record and I have to pay close to $40k for my education. Why should a criminal get it for free?
