Prisioners should be required to contribute towards their education. The state should not subside the entire cost. Just as a person who takes on student loans to pay for their education, prisioners who complete a college degree while incarcerated should be required to pay upon their release. The opportunity to better themselves is offered, but the taxpayers will not be required to fund 100% of it.

I work hard for my money and I do not want to pay for college for people who can do not live by the same laws that I do. Earn your own money and pay for your own college education, like the rest of us over taxed americans.

I say no! Soon people will be committing crimes just to get an education. I paid for my children's education and I will be paying for it for many years to come

I have to pay for my children to go to collage. They get rewarded with an education. Who is going to hire anyone with a felony. Take all their rights away when they break the law. Do not reward them.

One is sent to prison for punishment of a crime, to "think about what they have done", to rehabilitate themselves to function within society. Not to get a free college diploma. If I work 14 hour shifts, volunteer full time as a firefighter & medic, and have to pay full tuition, then inmates need to pay too.

I think the people that are contributing to society should receive the help not prisoners. they had a choice NOT to commit a crime. When they are done with there sentence they should be able to get a job and prove they deserve help same as innocent people.

I didn't work my butt off putting myself through college so that criminals could get a free ride. This is going to just create more criminals. If this option were available to me I would have committed a crime so that I don't have to pay back the $40,000 in school loans that I can't afford to pay because I can't find a Job in my Field.

I am so sick and tired of working 80 hours a week to bearly have enough to support my family because my hard earned paycheck is going to every free loader who does not deserve it. If It went to help scholarships for hard working americans then i have no problem. Enough is enough stop taking the food off my childrens plate and the cloth off there backs because i decided i want to be a hard worker and make a differance. They are criminals that get more luxerys then the tax payers footing the bill.

I am disgusted that this is even being considered. The reason some inmates are frequent attendees in the prison system, is that they are already getting a warm place to live, cable TV, medical care and workout rooms. Why don't we just add in a happy hour every Thursday evening and spa day on Saturday's for them. Jail should not be a place you want to be or don't mind being. Give them some motivation not to want to go back.

Make the prisoners take out loans like our children do and make them repay the enormous debt college costs - LIKE RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS DO. NO FREE RIDES. And get rid of cable tv in prison along with the other perks law abiding citizens can't afford.
