they had the same oppertunity as law abiding citizens to finish HS but choose not to do so and broke all kinds of laws to wind up in prison and now our governor wants to give them free collage, they already get free room, boardm medical, and dont have to pay taxes! i think not!!! We need a new gov.

why should we have to pay for a collage degree for them when our own kids want to get but have to borrow the money awnd then pay it back with interest and they get it free

how dare he i aqnd my 2 childern are still paying for thier education is he going to pay your debt they worked very hard and they don't get a break because they didn't break the law i'm so againest this i fell he must have some kind of mental condistion and i have found no one for this if it passes i think i will have to move out of state

This is an outrage and a slap in the face to hardworking peo9le who have made right choices in their lives. I can't afford to send my children to college and dont even consider myself to be middle class and still get no g8vernment assistance and you want to reward criminals. This is a disgrace!!!!

I feel we should help those who have decided to do what is right and live according to the law. Those citizens should receive help and an opportunity for a college education, or help with their student loans. Individuals who have broken the law should not get tax payer money to pay for college. Those same law abiding taxpayers are not receiving the same consideration or help. I feel no sympathy for those individuals who have broken the law. Yes, it is difficult for them to find work when they are released. It is difficult for everyone to find jobs in this economy. Why should those who show no respect for society and it's laws receive a leg up, on the backs of those who do follow the law? If the governor wants to help them, focus on bringing more jobs to New York. Once there are enough jobs to support law abiding citizens then employers can employ criminals. Stop trying to give money away to people who do not deserve it. Start worrying about your shrinking middle class. Once we are gone you will not be able to pay for any programs.

Criminals don't need college degrees. College degrees don't make you a better person, like obeying the Law and respecting the rights of other people does. Prisoners need to learn that doing these things are in their best interest and until they do, New Yorkers should be OK with paying to keep them incarcerated.

what about my son and daughter who want college educations? No more TAP, cost rising every year, no support for us in the near future. Criminals free education no way

I can't afford college for myself or my children, why on earth would I be responsible for providing education to someone who refused to abide by the law?
